Chapter 28: Traitors Among Us

Rebel POV

After dinner, Austin takes me by the hand and we go to his office. Renz, Lacy, Jessup and Jane all follow behind us. In the corner of my eye, I see movement. I stop and Austin looks at me. “Excuse me a minute babe.” I say.

I go back, with all eyes on me, and I see her. Once again, this she–wolf is getting on my nerve. She is trying to snoop around behind a doorway and Roxie is ready to lay this pain in our asses down. “Ceraline, why are you hiding? What are you up to now?”

“Oh, Luna.” She begins, “Nothing. I was just hanging around.”

‘Lie,‘ Roxie said. I immediately mind link Austin of the lie and that Roxie is going into lie detector mode, which means there is something more sinister going on.

“You’re not a very good liar, Ceraline.” I reply, “I don’t like liars. I’m going to ask you again, why are you hiding and what are you up to now?”

“Well, I see all ranked members were going into a meeting and I wanted to know what it’s about.” She said, feigning innocence.

‘Half–truth.‘ Roxie says.

“For what purpose?” I ask her.

“Honestly, I was just being nosey. I wanted to see what the meeting was about.” She says and I see her throat swallow. She is nervous about something.

I mind link Austin to have everyone stay behind me. I push out my aura, forcing Ceraline to kneel. “Tell me the truth Ceraline. Why are you trying to find out about what we are going to discuss?”

I can feel her trying not to fight telling me the truth, but I already know she will have no other choice. I calmly putting my hands together in front of me and stare at her until she cracks.

I see her gritting her teeth but finally she relents, “I wanted to find out so I could report it to Alpha Cullen.”

Austin snarls, but I mind link him to stay back and let me continue.

“Did Alpha Cullen approach you?” I ask.

“Argh, No! I want you out of the way and I went to him to help me get rid of you!” She screamed out.

Now, I hear Lacy and Jane growl and I tell Austin in the link to keep them behind me and I will explain later.

“What did you promise him?” I ask her.

“I told him I would report anything I find out about you that might help him get to you.” She bit out.
