Angelo POV

Sinclair is a beautiful woman. She looks mature even though she is young. I’m curious about her. Julian already said he is pursuing Sinclair and told me to stand down. I only admire Sinclair. I can appreciate a beautiful woman, even if I don’t want her romantically.

‘Who are you kidding? You like her!’ My wolf, Damon, said.

‘Okay, so what? Alpha Julian wants her. Everyone knows you don’t cross Julian.’

‘Didn’t you cross him when you made up ‘Condor’?’ he asked.

‘I was doing that to protect Sinclair. She is beneficial to the pack.’

‘Isn’t she unmated now? She is fair game.’

‘No. Not if Alpha Julian wants her. She is just my colleague. She’s also not our mate.’

I never get the chance to leave the pack long enough to find my mate. Julian always needs me to do something for him. Sinclair might be my only shot, but he even took that away.

As I was reviewing the latest results on the tool schematics, I heard the lab door open. When I turned around, I saw Sinclair. She came in with her laptop bag. I stood up and smiled at her.

“How are you this morning?” I asked.

“I’m fine. Thank you, Angelo.”

She walked past me and placed her bag on her desk. She came back out and looked around. She saw a machine that has been giving me issues. It won’t stay on, and I have been trying to get the trackers in sync with it. She quietly walked up to it and started fiddling around with it. The next thing I know, it turns on, and she starts tweaking with some of the settings.

When she backed away, she smiled. “There. That shouldn’t give us any more problems with getting the trackers in sync now.”

“How?” I asked in shocked admiration.

She explained that the cables were crossed and if you didn’t know what you were looking for, you would miss it. When I looked at the wiring, they were so closely named; she was right. I didn’t notice it.

I felt the tips of my ears turn red. “It looks like such a rookie mistake. I should have caught that.”

“Sometimes you just need a fresh set of eyes to help you out. What are you working on?” she asked.

“Oh, this is a tool that Julian wants. He says it’s for a life-changing battle. I’m not a warrior, so I don’t fight. He said this is the game changer, but it still needs some work,” I said.

“May I?” she asked.

I handed her the laptop, and she started looking at the schematic. “You have capacitors that need updating,” she said, pointing to two spots on the blueprint.

I looked at it. “That would over-surge the device.”

“What are you trying to do with this device?” she asked.

“Honestly, I have no idea, which is what is making this so difficult. Alpha Julian doesn’t give away much,” I said, and even I can hear my frustration.

“I see,” she said. “Call him here, please.”

“What?”

“Mind-link him. Tell him to join us.”

‘Alpha?’ I called out.
