Chapter 11-3

While we had lunch, I filled Dove in on what happened downstairs with Leandro. And how I didn’t think that he would give up. “Girl, you are so screwed. If he is determined that you are well, you. Then there is no way that he’s going to fall for you, telling him that you’re not his girl. He won’t give up and leave you alone. So what are you going to do?” she asked me.

“I have no freaking idea. I know that I need to call my brothers and warn them about coming to visit. But he may not know what they look like since they were never in Russia. And I know that my mother doesn’t have any pictures of them. She didn’t take anything but her clothes when she left. And everything else dad got in the divorce since he had proof that she was cheating on him. The only thing that the old hag got was me, and that’s because they threatened the judge. I didn’t know how at the time, but I later learned that he was buying little girls and boys from someone that my stepdad was working with. Last year, that judge as well as a lot of other people in high places of power all come up missing. From what I hear, they were all messing with kids. I guess that there was proof of what they were doing. The only reason that the old hag didn’t go after my brothers is because they were both older and in college. But back to Leandro. I am going to try to lie low during the day and have the girls run the front of the store. I’ll stay in the back baking unless I absolutely need to go out front. Hopefully, he will give up, but I don’t think that he will. I really don’t want to move again, but if he won’t leave me alone, I may have to. Although, I did threaten him with a restraining order, so maybe he will stay away,” I said.

“Yeah, with the type of guy that he is, I don’t see that working. He will try to keep you from getting the restraining order or he’ll just ignore it and come around anyway. Hell, he probably has the cops in his pocket, or his dad does. As much as I love living here, if you leave I go with you, babe. We’re in this together and I won’t let you go alone. If I have to, I’ll even help you hid his body,” she said with a wink.

I just laughed at her and finished eating. When we were done, I cleaned Veer up and got him a bottle. After I had him down for a nap, I laid him down in his pack n play and then headed back downstairs to work. The rest of the day was spent baking and trying to keep my mind off of Leandro.

When my customer came in to pick the cake up for her dad, she was so happy with the way that it turned out. She even said that she’d get a picture of her dad with it and send it to me. She knew that he would love it. I was so happy that she loved how it turned out. After she left, I helped the girls clean up and then lock up for the night.

I restocked the display case for the morning and then locked up after the girls left for the night. After double checking that everything was off and done for the night, I headed upstairs to spend time with my little love and Dove. She was busy writing while she watched Veer, and I was exhausted. So I ordered pizza and all of the sides to go with it for dinner. After baking all day and being in a hot kitchen, I wasn’t all about standing over a hot stove making dinner tonight. I wanted to spend time with my boy.

So while we waited for the pizza to get here, I took a quick shower and then got down on the floor with Veer to play with him. He was watching dinosaur train on tv and playing with his little train baby train set and dinos that I got for him. Listening to his little laugh was the best sound in the world.

Claim

When the food came, Dove ran down and grabbed it and tipped the driver while I got Veer in his chair. After we ate dinner, we cleaned up and then I bathed my little nugget. When he was ready for bed, I sat in the rocking chair in his room, rocking him and reading him a story. After he was asleep, I put him in his crib and then headed to my room.

After the emotional day that I had because of dealing with Leandro, it didn’t take me long to fall asleep. For the first time in over a year, I had nightmares. I dreamed about Leandro and that bitch taking my son from me and laughing in my face while they did it. I woke up with a start from the dream as I was choking the bitch out and I had tears on my face. I will protect my son no matter what I have to do. And I’ll make damn sure that neither of them gets their hands on my boy.

Leandro and I had our chance, and he ruined it and me. I won’t let him hurt my son like he hurt me. The momma bear will come out and protect her little cub. I don’t care who the hell I have to go up against. The meek and timid little Effie is no more. I am now the fierce and feisty Rose. Watch out Leandro, because I’m not afraid of you and I won’t back down from you.
