Chapter 17-2

I giggled and said, “Probably. And I’m sure that if his daddy was around, it would’ve been. But I was always trying to get him to say mommy. And it worked because that was his first word. Maybe when you have other kids, their first word will be daddy. His second was Dodo for Dove. He loves his Aunty Dove, don’t you, baby boy?”

“Well, you will know when I do have other kids. Because you will be the one to have them,” he said as he handed Veer over to his mom. I just scowled at him and shook my head no. I wasn’t getting into this conversation with him again. When I looked at him, he had a cocky smirk on his face, so I rolled my eyes at him and turned back to his parents.

His mom and dad were both fawning over Veer, and so weren’t Leando’s brothers. I smiled at how happy they all looked. I hated that they all missed out on my pregnancy and the first year of his life. But they were here for him now, and that’s what mattered. I just hope that my mother and her husband don’t find me because I don’t trust either one of them. They tried to sell me as a kid, and I wouldn’t put it past them to try again. Especially since I ran away from them before they had a chance to. I won’t let them get ahold of me

or my son. Because if they were to try and sell him, I’d kill the both of them. You don’t mess with a momma

dragon that actually cares about her son.

Leandro nudged me and whispered, “Are you ok, baby?” “Yeah, I’m ok. I’m just thinking is all. We need to

get to the bank if you’re going to make it to work. I don’t want to keep you,” I told him. “You’re not keeping

me, baby. But we do need to get going. Mom, do you want to hand Veer over? We need to get to the bank,

and then I need to get to work. You can spend time with Veer in the SUV. Like I said, the boys can go with

dad and you can go with us. While I take Ef, sorry, Rose, into the bank. You can sit in the car and spend

time with Veer. Dad, after I take her to the bank to make her deposit, I’ll drop her back off here, mom at

home, and then I’ll be in to the office,” Leandro told his dad.

“Take your time, son. Make sure our girl makes it to the bank, ok? No hurry; come in when you are done.

Rose, it’s so good to see you, sweetheart. I’ll see you at the house tonight. My love, I’ll see you later. Have

fun spending time with our grandson,” Rodion said.

After Alena handed Veer to me, I bent down to put him in his car seat as she kissed Rodion. I giggled at

them and how much they were still in love. It makes me hope to have that kind of love one day. Even after

everything that they went through, they are still very much in love with each other.

Once I had Veer strapped into his car seat, Leandro picked him up in it. Then he grabbed the diaper bag
