Chapter 19-2
After Leandro got in the car, he made sure that both Veer and I were buckled in, and then we left. I grabbed my purse and got my phone out. I pulled up the video and handed it to Leandro to watch. “Here this is the video that I took of Veer today,” I said as I handed my phone to him. You could hear me cheering him on in the video, and you could hear his cute little laugh. When Dove came in, you could hear her cheering him on as well before the video shut off.
“That’s to fu er freaking cute. I’ll have to get some stuff for him for when the both of you are at our house. I know that mom’s got a pack–in–play that has the bassinet piece for it. She uses it for my sister’s son, Fin.
But I’m sure that we can use it for Veer if he needs it as well. I’m not sure what all mom has for Fin just yet. But knowing Mom, after I dropped her off this morning, she probably went shopping for him. She loves
being a mother, especially now that she has another daughter. But she loves being a grandmother even
more,” he told me.
“What do you mean now that she has another daughter? I know that you have seven brothers and now a
sister, apparently. But who is the other daughter that she has? What am I missing?” I ask him with a confused look on my face. I don’t remember them ever mentioning any other girls in the family except for an aunt who passed away. And from what I remember, she was Rodion’s half sister. His mom had her with
someone else when she divorced his dad when he was a kid.
The only thing that I can think of is her claiming a girl that one of his brothers got with as a daughter. But I
don’t remember hearing about any of them being with anyone. But I have been out of the loop for a while
now.
Leandro just smirks at me while I’m trying to figure out who he’s talking about. Finally, he says, “It’s you,
Effie girl. You are the only other girl that she sees as a daughter. And she has seen you as such since the
first time that she met you after you moved to Russia with your mother. Hell, you spent more time with my
mom than you did with your own. My mom has missed you like crazy over the past two years. She has
also protected you. For example, I didn’t know until today that you would text her once a month and let her
know that you were ok. She kept that to herself these past two years. Especially after she found out that I
was part of the reason that you left. Even after I explained what happened, she was still on your side. And
she still kept that secret from me. I’m not mad at her, I understand why she never told me. But I am pissed
that she knew you were ok, while I worried about you. Hell, I’ve had people trying to find you and have even had your dad and grandma watched. I figured that they would lead me to you. But no such luck, even with them coming down here for the company.”
“Yeah, we knew that you were watching them. So when they came down here, I would go to the office to work. I’d take Veer with me and park in the underground parking area. Only certain people can access it. Even though my dad is one of those people, he would park in the outside staff parking area. That way, your guy wouldn’t try to follow him underground and see me. Once he was in the office, your guy couldn’t go any farther than the main floor. You had to have a special card and code in order to get upstairs. And to access my floor, you also have to have a palm and eye scan. My grandpa was a little paranoid, but we kept it all in place. I still work at the company a couple of days a month. I mainly leave most of it to my dad to
