Chapter 20-1
Leandro
When we got to my parents‘ house, I watched Effie’s face light up and have this wow look on her face. When she saw how big and grand my parents‘ place here is, she was amazed. Their house in Russia is big, but it’s nothing compared to this place. This place was the first home that my dad ever bought.
When he was still just an underling under my grandfather, he spent most of his time working here and wanted a huge house. He told us as kids that he always imagined this house being the main family home. He wanted to grow his family here. He never wanted to live in Russia full–time because of his dad. But when he took over, he ended up having to move to Russia.
So we spent most of our time in Russia and only came here when we had vacations. At least until we were all out of school. And then we were over here more often than not. My dad and mom live here almost permanently now since River is here. They only come back home every couple of months so that dad can check shit out for the company.
I don’t blame them because I’d much rather live here now as well. Especially since my sister and nephew are here. And even more so now that I know my woman and son live here as well. And extremely glad that I bought the farm outside of town now. It will be perfect for the three of us. I just hope that Effie likes it. I’ll
have to take her out there soon to show her the work that is being done on the place.
After we are parked, I get out of the car and walk around to Effie’s door while she gets our boy out of his
seat. I still can’t believe that I am a dad. People may think I’m stupid for not getting a DNA test done on
him. But I know that he’s my son. For one, Effie isn’t the type of girl to go from guy to guy. Hell, she was a
virgin when I slept with her the first time. And secondly, Veer is almost the spitting image of me. I also
trust my Effie girl with everything that I have.
After I opened her door, I helped her out and then grabbed her purse, the diaper bag, and the cheesecakes
that she brought with her. Once I have everything, I shut the door and then put my hand on Effie’s lower
back. I lead her towards the door to the house. As we were walking up the steps, the door opened, and my
mom was standing there,
I looked back over my shoulder to see if everyone was here yet, and from the looks of it, everyone but my
sister and her family are. When we get to the door, mom hugs Effie and Veer and says, “Oh, sweet girl, I
know that I just saw you this afternoon, but I’ve missed you so much. Now come on into the house. Dinner will be ready soon. We’re having meatloaf, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, green beans, and rolls for dinner. I know that was always your favorite when you had dinner with us. María is here with us, but Abram is still back in Russia, I wasn’t sure what kind of foods that our little man here eats or what he drinks,
though.”
