Chapter 22-1

Getting to see Alena, Rodion, and all of the boys made me realize how much that I missed all of them. I spent time with Alena when we first got here, talking and catching up. She wanted to know everything about my pregnancy and Veer’s first year of life. So I pulled up my app with my pictures on my phone. And

as I talked to her about it all, I showed her the pictures.

I had a picture for every month that I was pregnant from three months on. I didn’t know that I was pregnant until then, and that’s when I started to show some. By the time that I went into the hospital to have Veer, I was huge. I remember taking a picture before I headed to the hospital. I also showed her the pictures that Dove took the day that I had Veer.

We went through all of the baby pictures of my nugget on my phone, and I decided to order her a photo book as well as getting some eight–by–ten pictures printed out for Alena and Leandro. I knew that they

would both like that.

When River and her guys got here, I was nervous about meeting them. Of course, I knew Zeus and Aries, but I had never seen the other two before. When they came for the testing, I didn’t look too closely at the other guys. Since everything went down with my mother trying to sell me, I tend to keep my head down around men. I didn’t talk to Zeus that day that they came for the testing because it’s an important day for

couples. At least, I’ve always thought so.

Most couples want to be left alone to taste the cakes and pick out the one that they like alone. They like to feed each other and flirt and don’t want a stranger sitting at the table with them. I also knew that they had had a rough couple of months. I figured that I would get my chance to officially meet them all at a

later date.

I usually spend time at the clubhouse, but I usually go when it’s just the women around. I tend to go during the day when it’s quieter. Although I know that the guys are all nice and wouldn’t hurt me, they still made

me nervous.

So meeting River and her guys tonight, I got a shock when I saw her man, Dom. It was uncanny how much he looked like my brothers and my dad. As far as I knew, my dad was an only child. Grandma only had him and never talked about my grandpa or any other family. She has always been about taking care of my dad, my brothers, and me. So, I wasn’t sure how he would be related to us, but I had a feeling that he was. But for now, I kept those thoughts to myself. I wanted to talk to Dad and Grandma first.

At dinner, River asked Zeus why he hadn’t introduced me to them when they came in for the taste testing. He said the same thing that I thought. That they had had a rough few months, and he just wasn’t thinking about it. He was just thinking about making the day special for her. But we are all meeting now, and that’s what matters, I always say that everything happens for a reason.

When dinner was over, we all pitched in to clear the table and then had dessert. When it was done, we

cleaned up, and the boys did the dishes. Veer was starting to get cranky, so I took him out of the high
