Chapter 21-2

“It’s no problem, man. She became family to all of us over the years. Hell, to the women of the club, she’s another daughter to most of them. They all love her and Veer. In all honesty, I don’t know how she and

River haven’t met yet. Because Rose, er Effie, spent a couple nights and days a month at the clubhouse. I

didn’t know that she had a connection to any of you guys. But I’m happy that she’s finally got you back. We’ve talked a lot over the years, so I know what went on with everything. Dont hurt her again because id

really hate to fuck my wife’s brother up for hurting someone that I see as a sister,” Zeus told me.

“I don’t plan to fuck up again. Hell, I didn’t plan to fuck up the first time. It was all a big misunderstanding.

And I’ve explained that to my girl. She overheard a succubus trying to blackmail my brother and me, and I

was trying to get information from her. Effie is the only woman that I have been with in years and the only

one that I want. She’s the love of my life. But it also wasn’t only me that she ran from. She was also running from her bitch of a mother and stepdad. But that’s something that we can talk about later. For

now, I think that dinner is ready or close to it,” I said.

I noticed that Effie was watching Dom with a puzzled look on her face. I wasn’t sure why, though. I didn’t get to ask her about it though, because mom said, “It’s done already. Maria came in right before River pulled in to tell me that everything was ready. We can head to the dining room now.”

We all headed to the dining room, and I led Effie to a seat beside my spot at the table. I noticed a high chair placed in between our chairs and figured that mom went and got it for Veer after I dropped her off today. Dad handed Veer to me, and I wasn’t sure how to put him in the high chair. With a giggle at me, Effie took him from my arms and put him in the chair. And then put a sippy cup that I didn’t even see her holding

on it.

Once she had him in his chair, I pulled hers out at the table and helped her to sit down. Once she was seated, I sat down in my chair. Mom handed Fin to dad and then went to help Maria carry the rest of the food to the table. Two of my brothers were helping them. And once all of the food was on the table, she

started to pour wine into our glasses.

“Effie, if I remember correctly, you never were a wine drinker. I know that you’re still breastfeeding as well, so I picked up some Dr. Pepper for you. River, I wasn’t sure what you wanted to drink since you’re always changing it. So I have pop, juice, and milk,” Mom told them. “Ok, mom, thank you. I’ll go fix my glass so that you or Maria don’t have to do it,” she said as she headed to the kitchen.

Mom and Maria finished filling everyone’s glasses, and once everyone, including Maria, was sitting at the table, we started passing the food around. Mom had placed a little plastic baby plate between Effie’s plate and mine, and she used it to fix our son a plate. After she had both of their plates fixed, she cut a piece of meatloaf off of her plate, put it on Veer’s, and then chopped it up for him. After she had his plate ready, she put it and a baby spoon on his tray. His little squeal and giggle when he got his plate had everyone

laughing.

Effie was giving him a soft, loving look. I was watching both of them, smiling. She looked up at me, and shrugged her shoulders as she said, “He’s like his momma, he loves his food. He gets excited about all

foods but loves the same things that I do, especially tacos. I make him taco salad when I make them, and

he loves it.”

“He takes after his Aunty then because I’m a big foodie as well. I help my Nonna at her dinner, and I’m in

school for it as well,” River told her. River was sitting across the table from us, so she and Effie started to

talk. It was good to see them both get along. After all of the hell that River has been through, she doesn’t

trust easily anymore. So, to see her get along with my girl made me happy.
