Chapter 246 A Warning

Chapter 246 A Warning

She hadn’t expected him to pull away at that moment.

For someone burning with desire, it felt like pure torture.

About half an hour later, Caleb stepped out of the bathroom.

A towel was wrapped loosely around his waist, and droplets of water still glistened on his chest, tracing paths down his torso-the sight was undeniably tempting.

He slid under the covers and began flicking his lighter on and off, the soft click-click cunting through the quiet.

From under the blankets, Sierra muttered, “Caleb, you’re such a coward.”

His hand stilled for just a second before a smirk touched his lips. “If you weren’t a virgin, sure, I might’ve gone through with it. No big deal-just two people hooking up.

“But since it’s your first time… I’m not gonna play games with that.”

Sierra pressed, “Didn’t you agree to give dating a try? This is part of it.”

“Changed my mind,” Caleb replied flatly. “Consider it me talking out of my ass. If you wanna date someone, find somebody else. I don’t have the time.”

Sierra turned her back to him and stayed quiet for a long moment.

Under the blanket, Caleb nudged her foot with his.

“And don’t start thinking stupid stuff-like you’re not attractive or nobody wants you even when you throw yourself at them. I didn’t do it ’cause we’re too close. I just couldn’t go through with it.”

Not that the attraction wasn’t there-it definitely was.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have spent the last half hour in the bathroom, relying on his right hand while thoughts of her warm body played in his mind until he finally took care of things.

Sierra let out a faint, dismissive snort.

“Don’t flatter yourself. I don’t need you to validate whether I’m attractive or not.”

Then she pushed the covers aside, got up, and walked over to the closet.

She pulled out one of Caleb’s plain white sweaters-it hung loosely on her frame-and found one of his jackets to wrap around herself.

“I’m leaving.”

Caleb blinked. “Just like that?”

“What else?” Sierra shot back. “You want me to take responsibility for you?”

His eyes swept over her. “You’re going out dressed like that? Want everyone to know you spent the night at some guy’s place?”

“I don’t care,” she said, already heading for the door, not in the mood to argue.

Caleb quickly got out of bed, caught up with her, and pulled her back gently.

“What’s gotten into you? Just stay. I’ll go buy you some proper clothes.”

A heavy knot tightened in Sierra’s chest. “No need. Don’t wanna trouble you.”

Frowning, Caleb studied her face. “Why so pissed? ‘Cause I didn’t sleep with you?”

She turned her head away, refusing to look at him. “I’m not that pathetic.”

He lightly tapped her forehead. “What’s with the attitude today? Can you talk like a normal person?”

Sierra bit her lip. “My head hurts. I just wanna go home and sleep.”

In one smooth motion, Caleb scooped her up into his arms. “Sleep here. You already stayed one night- what’s a few more hours? Now get some rest. I’ll grab you clothes and food.”

He placed her back on the bed, and when he took the jacket off her shoulders, she didn’t resist.

Caleb sighed, sounding almost pleading. “Look, just get some proper sleep, okay? Stop overthinking things. Let’s just pretend today never happened. We’re still cool-good friends from here on out.”

Sierra lay down and yanked the blanket over her head. “Get lost.”

He shook his head, muttering under his breath, “I must’ve owed you in a past life. Been my own man for so long, and now I’m wrapped around your finger.”

As he turned to leave the room, he paused at the doorway.

“Sierra.”

Hearing him use her full name was rare, and it made her still beneath the covers.

A few seconds of silence stretched between them.

“Ethan’s my friend,” Caleb said, his tone turning uncharacteristically sober “And Jasmine isn’t just a colleague-she’s a good friend. So don’t hurt them.”

Sierra stayed quiet for a beat before replying, defiance creeping into her voice. “What if I do?”

For a long moment, there was no response.

Eventually. Sierra lifted the blanket to look at him.

Chapter 246 A Warning

His expression was stone serious, almost intimidating, and his words came out cold and clear.

“Then I’d lose all respect for you. And from that point on, Sierra, you wouldn’t be welcome in my circle anymore.”

It took her a while to process his words.

Was this really Caleb-the guy who always seemed so easygoing, who did whatever he pleased?

The tone he’d just used, the look in his eyes… it was actually kind of scary.
