“After what happened, how the hell are you supposed to feel nothing?” Sierra exclaimed angrily.

“That was my first time! There’s no way I wouldn’t have any feelings about it!”

The atmosphere in the room suddenly went dead silent.

Caleb didn’t react for a long while. He just sat there, looking a bit stunned.

Sierra was also mortified. Why on earth did she have to blurt that out?

In her frustration, she gave Caleb a light punch, then flopped back down on the bed, yanked up the blanket, and buried herself under it.

Finally, Caleb snapped out of his daze. He gently tugged at the edge of the blanket to open a little gap.

“No way. Did you get that hymen reconstruction surgery or something?” he asked, his voice full of disbelief.

Someone who changed boyfriends as often as they changed their socks was still a virgin? That was just mind-boggling.

Thinking back to the kiss they’d shared at the club, Caleb started to have second thoughts. That clumsy way of kissing didn’t seem like someone with a lot of experience. Could it really be true?

Sierra’s voice came out, muffled from under the blanket. “Caleb, if you keep talking like this, I’ll make sure you regret it.”

Caleb replied, “For real? You’re not pulling my leg, are you?”

Sierra shot back, “I swear I’m telling the truth, cross my heart.”

Caleb had a naughty thought. “How about I check it out? Then I’ll know if you’re telling the truth.”

Sierra kicked him hard under the blanket.

Caleb yelped in surprise. “Watch out! Be careful with my manhood!”

Sierra retorted, “It’d be better if it got damaged. Then we’d be in the same boat.”

Caleb’s hand slipped under the blanket to tickle her. “Turn around. Let’s have a proper chat.”

Sierra squirmed around, trying to get away from the tickling. As she flailed her arms and legs, she seemed to bump into something.

She got startled and quickly shuffled to the other side of the bed. Well, even if she’d never been in that situation before, she knew what it was all about.

Sierra blushed a deep red. “Get out of here!”

Caleb laughed heartily, clearly in high spirits. “It’s just a normal morning wood. Every guy gets it.”

Sierra didn’t say a word. She wanted to get up and find her clothes. But she looked around the room, and there was no sign of them anywhere.

Caleb said, “Don’t waste your time looking. Your clothes are in the washing machine. You barfed all over them last night. They were disgusting.”

Sierra felt a bit deflated. “My perfect image is completely shot because of you.”

Caleb let out a little snort. “Don’t blame me for that. You’re the one who wanted to get drunk. You think I don’t know you were trying to drown your sorrows?”

“Who’s drowning their sorrows! Stop talking nonsense!”

“Am I talking nonsense, or are you just too ashamed to admit it?”

Sierra got really mad. “Caleb, can’t you just shut up for a couple of minutes?”

Caleb half-sat up. His bare chest showed off well-defined muscle lines, oozing pure sex appeal.

“I’m just worried about you,” he said.

“What do you have to worry about?”

Caleb ruffled Sierra’s hair. “Honey, if something isn’t meant for you, don’t force it.”

Sierra suddenly felt a pang in her chest. It felt tight and hard to breathe.

After a long time, she took Caleb’s hand, lowered her head, and bit down hard.

Caleb frowned but didn’t pull his hand away. Let her get it out of her system.

When Sierra saw that he wasn’t resisting, she couldn’t keep biting. She let go.

“Caleb.”

“Yeah?”

“How about we give it a go?”

Caleb paused for a few seconds. “To take your mind off things?”

Sierra said, “Maybe it’s because I haven’t been in a relationship for so long that sometimes I can’t stop thinking about the wrong people and things. So I might as well find someone to date.”

Caleb reached over to the nightstand, picked up the pack of cigarettes, took one out, and put it between his lips. But he didn’t light it.

Sierra reached over and took the cigarette from his mouth. She held it between her fingers and stared at it.

“Can this stuff really make you feel better?”

Caleb said, “Want to give it a try?”

Sierra said, “Sure. I’ll give it a shot.”

With that, she put the cigarette to her lips.

Caleb quickly snatched it out of her hand. “Damn it, you were really going to smoke it? Do you want me to give you a smack?”

Caleb threw the cigarette away, pulled Sierra close to his chest, and ran his thumb over her soft, inviting lips. His voice got a bit husky.

“Didn’t you want to try something? Want to do it now?”

Sierra looked into his teasing eyes, hesitated for a moment, then said, “Okay. Let’s do it.”

Caleb’s gaze landed on her breasts. They weren’t overly large, but they had a nice shape. Desire slowly welled up in his eyes.

Sierra’s heart started pounding like crazy. She squeezed her eyes shut, made up her mind, and straddled

him.

Caleb’s eyes crinkled with a mischievous smile. He wrapped one arm around her neck and brought his lips to hers.

Putting all their worries aside, they got caught up in the moment.

But at the very last second, he stopped.

Caleb pulled back halfway, his body covered in sweat.

It was just a thin membrane. Tear it, so what. They were both adults. Even if it was just a fling, who cared.

That was what Caleb had been thinking before. But at some point, he just couldn’t go through with it. He couldn’t explain why.

His body was aching for release. But in his heart, he felt a bit hesitant.

Stopping halfway, with the desire still building up and no release in sight, Caleb knew that feeling all too well right then.

The bathroom door closed with a soft click.

Sierra curled up under the blanket and listened to the sound of the water running in the bathroom. A flood of emotions welled up inside her, and she couldn’t tell which one was stronger.
