Chapter 250 A Place to Stay

Chapter 250 A Place to Stay

Jasmine didn’t skip a beat.

“Get in the car.”

Sheldon paused, hesitating at the curb.

“Three seconds,” she added flatly. “If you don’t get in now, don’t bother working for me.”

That got him moving-he hurried over and slid into the passenger seat.

The car eventually pulled up at Moonlight Terrace.

Jasmine led the way inside and opened the unit door.

“I’ll text you the entry code in a minute-call my phone so you have it. This is my place; nobody’s here right now. You can stay for a while.”

Sheldon looked at her, almost stunned.

“You’d really trust me this much? Aren’t you worried?”

Jasmine shrugged lightly. “Worried about what? That you’ll trash the apartment? You’re not an untrained puppy.”

His mouth twitched at the remark.

She took out all the cash from her wallet and handed it over.

“Use this for meals. I’ll reach out after the exhibition wraps up.”

Sheldon’s fingers tightened around the bills.

In all his years, no one had shown him this kind of consideration-except for his childhood girlfriend from the group home they’d grown up in.

“Thank you,” he said quietly.

Leaving Moonlight Terrace, Jasmine arrived home late.

Margaret heard the door and immediately trotted over. She took the bag from Jasmine’s hands and grumbled, “Miss, how could you only be getting back now? Do you know what time it is?”

A soft warmth settled in Jasmine’s chest.

The aroma of a home-cooked meal drifted from the kitchen. The house was bright and welcoming, and someone was waiting up for her. Wasn’t this the kind of life she’d always wanted?

“Margaret. I picked someone up today,” Jasmine mentioned as she slipped off her shoes.

“Picked someone up?”

“Mhm.”

Jasmine recounted the encounter with Sheldon.

Margaret was alarmed when she heard this. “Miss, how could you just bring a complete stranger into the house like that? What if he turns out to be a bad person?”

Jasmine smiled gently. “A man who’d rather face prison time to save his girlfriend’s life… how bad could he really be?”

Margaret thought it over and nodded slowly. “You’re right. That kind of loyalty and devotion-you hardly see it in men nowadays.”

Then she caught herself and added, “Well, not entirely. I suppose Mr. Brooks is that sort of good man, too.”

Jasmine’s smile lingered.

It seemed Ethan had really won Margaret’s approval.

Just then, Sierra called.

Jasmine padded into her room, curled lazily on the couch, and answered.

“Guess who I saw today?” Sierra’s voice bubbled through the line.

Jasmine didn’t skip a beat. “Silas.”

As one of Rivercrest’s leading tech firms, Silas’ company never missed a chance to showcase its strength at high-profile events.

Sierra sounded almost gleeful. “Okay, but guess who he had with him?”

Jasmine ventured, “Felicity?”

“Nope. Vivienne.”

Jasmine fell silent for a moment.

So instead of bringing his devoted girlfriend Felicity, Silas had brought Vivienne along?

Sierra snorted. “Silas really knows how to mix business with pleasure. Can’t even do a work event without bringing his… side company.

“I wasn’t even paying attention to his drama, but then Silas noticed I work for Mr. Brooks’ company now. The look he gave me-honestly, like I was something he’d scraped off his shoe.”

Jasmine’s fingers wound lazily through her hair, the picture of languid ease. “That is just how he acts toward anyone he dislikes. Why bother with him?”

Sierra huffed. “Oh, I didn’t bother with him. But I wasn’t about to let him off

Jasmine chuckled. “What did you do?”

easy.

Knowing Sierra’s love for playful payback, she’d probably stirred things up again.

either.”

“It was nothing too big. I just took a photo of Silas and Vivienne together, had it printed, ordered a courier, and sent it over to that mistress.” “Did she not send you photos before? This time it worked out perfectly: One good turn deserves another. We are sending her one too.”

Jasmine paused briefly.

It wasn’t that she objected to Sierra’s move.

She just felt a slight reluctance about causing Vivienne more pain.

Sierra seemed to read her hesitation. “Don’t worry-I know Vivienne’s caught in a tough spot too, so I made sure her face wasn’t visible in the shot.”

Well, that was something.

Now, Silas’ personal life was about to get heated all over again. He’d have his hands full dealing with the fallout.

After hanging up, Sierra lay in bed awhile, restlessly turning over before finally getting up.

She opened the cabinet and took out a small box of medication-stomach relief pills, freshly delivered by pharmacy courier.

But they weren’t for her. They were for…

After hesitating a little longer, she pulled on a light jacket and stepped out into the hall, heading to the room next door.

It was occupied by Ethan and his assistant, Zack.

Sierra knocked softly.
