“What are you trying to say?” she asked, looking at him calmly.

“I’m trying to say that Yvan’s feelings for you are real,” Todd said. “You should give him a chance.”

Winifred’s face remained impassive.

Todd grew anxious. “Winifred, I’m serious. Did you know about the online hate campaign against you after that incident at the hospital? What Yvan said back then came from the bottom of his heart. Even I was moved.”

“I was in a hate campaign?” Winifred looked up. “Why didn’t I know about that?”

Todd froze. “Yvan didn’t tell you?”

Todd clicked his tongue. “So he was planning on doing a good deed without taking any credit?”

Todd explained the whole story, then added with a sheepish look, “I told Yvan not to get the videos taken down so quickly. I said he should let you panic a little before stepping in to help, then you’d be crying with gratitude. For the record, Winifred, I didn’t mean anything by it. I just hated seeing him in so much pain trying to win you over, so I gave him that advice.”
