How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 175

Yvan kept his phone on, continuously watching the security footage of her door.

Fitch, bored of waiting, decided to break the silence and ask the question that had been on his mind for days. “Mr. Brown, I’m very curious. Why don’t you let Ms. Spencer know you live here?”

It wasn’t just curiosity; it also affected his job.

What kind of executive assistant had to not only handle work matters but also act as a stand-in for his boss, dealing with women on his behalf? And be on call twenty-four-seven.

Yvan remained silent.

Why didn’t he tell her? Because he was afraid. He was afraid that knowing would cause her pain, that she would leave him again. Then he wouldn’t even have the chance to watch her from afar.

The way things were now, he could still see her every day. Wasn’t that a kind of happiness in itself?

When Yvan didn’t answer, Fitch gathered his courage and continued, “I don’t know your reasons, Mr. Brown, but this can’t go on forever. Do you plan to keep this up? If Ms. Spencer doesn’t know you're here, I’m afraid another man will snatch her away sooner or later.”

Yvan clenched his fists.

He knew this wasn’t a sustainable solution, but what could he do?

He was too ashamed to appear before her again. He owed her for a lifetime.

Yvan automatically lit a cigarette, took a drag, and slowly exhaled the smoke. He murmured, “So what if she ends up with another man? As long as she likes him and is happy, I’ll be content.”

Fitch’s eyes widened in astonishment.

Wow, Mr. Brown's mind operates in a whole different dimension.

He, for one, could never watch the woman he loved be with another man.

But, this also meant his days as a stand-in were far from over.

Sigh.

As he spoke, he glanced inside and saw the man was still sitting on the sofa, looking at the laptop.

Winifred exchanged a few more pleasantries with Fitch before closing the door and placing the braised pork on the table.

Steven glanced at it. “Your neighbor seems quite friendly.”

“Yes, I didn’t expect him to bring me food either,” Winifred said, sitting down next to him. “Let’s get back to what we were talking about. You were saying this part needs to be revised?”

Steven had wanted to say more, to advise her to have less contact with her neighbor.

The man kept bothering her every few days. From his understanding of men, he was sure the neighbor had ulterior motives.

He wanted to pursue Winifred and didn't want to give any other man an opportunity.

But he and Winifred weren’t close enough for him to say such things. He was afraid he would annoy her if he said too much, so he kept his mouth shut.
