How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 215

Winifred saw Yvan's message after she finished washing the dishes.

She stared at the words "I love you," lost in thought.

He had said "I love you" so many times while they were in bed.

Winifred walked into the bedroom and looked at the rumpled sheets.

Just a short while ago, they had been intimate here.

She could still recall every detail with perfect clarity.

He had kissed every inch of her body, caressing her with devotion.

She could see the burning love for her in his eyes.

And she loved him, too. When they held each other close, she felt as if a void in her heart had finally been filled.

Yes, she loved him. Deeply.

Her heart hadn't changed since they first got together seven years ago.

No matter how much she had hated him, her heart still fluttered for him.

But the pain...

Winifred clenched her fists tightly.

...

The next morning, just as Winifred reached the elevators, Yvan stepped out of his apartment.

"Winifred, breakfast for you," he said, handing her a bag.

He knew she usually bought breakfast on her way to work, so he had made it for her specially.

After he finished cooking, he'd been watching the security feed, waiting for her to come out so he could intercept her.

She took the bag and looked inside.

It was a sandwich with cheese, a fried egg, and lettuce, along with a carton of milk.

"I made it myself. Give it a try; it's not bad," Yvan said nervously, afraid she would find fault with it.

Winifred didn't say anything, but she clutched the bag tighter, a clear sign of acceptance.

Yvan breathed a sigh of relief and boldly took her hand. "Can I drive you to work?"

Winifred pulled her hand away. "No, thank you. It's not far."

A night had passed, and she was starting to regret giving in to Yvan. She shouldn't have been so impulsive, so soft.

There’s a strange guilt — as if she’s undoing her own past.

How was she supposed to handle their relationship now? Accept him? But what happened with her grandmother was still a thorn between them.

Winifred was distracted all morning. At lunchtime, she received a call from an unknown number.

The call made her temporarily forget all about Yvan.

"Winifred, do you remember me? It's your grandmother, Fiona," the woman on the phone said cheerfully.

Winifred had never heard Fiona speak to her like this, and it immediately sounded fake.

Ever since middle school, when she had tried to visit her father only to be yelled at and thrown out, she hadn't seen them in over a decade.

Of course, they hadn't tried to find her either, acting as if she didn't exist.

A sudden call now certainly wasn't out of a guilty conscience.

"How did you get my number?" Winifred asked, her tone cold.

"I got it from Yolanda," Fiona said with a laugh. "Winifred, dear, Yolanda told me you're working in Riverside City now. What brought you all the way out here? And what about your mother? Isn't she in Zion?"
