How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 27

Being called plain to her face was mortifying. Winifred wished the ground would swallow her whole.

She stood up and mumbled, "Well, if there's nothing else, I should go."

Yvan stood up too. "I'll take you home."

"N-no, that's okay," Winifred stammered, clenching her fists. "I rode my bike."

"Can your bike carry another person?" Yvan asked.

Winifred didn't understand why he was asking, but she nodded instinctively. "Yes."

"Perfect. I'll give you a ride."

And with that, Yvan walked out of the room.

Winifred stood there for a moment, stunned, before following him.

That day, Yvan rode her home on her own bicycle. About halfway there, he suddenly stopped.

"It's still early. Want to hang out for a while before you go back?" he asked, balancing on one foot and turning his head slightly to look at her.

"Huh?" Winifred was taken aback by the question.

"What 'huh'? You want to hang out or not?" he asked, turning to face her fully. "And don't give me that 'I have to study' excuse. Exams are over."

Winifred remembered the time Yvan had asked her out and she had told him she needed to study. He had called her a bookworm and never asked her out again.

In truth, she wasn't a bookworm. She had refused back then because she had no idea how to interact with someone like Yvan.

They were from two completely different worlds.

"I, uh, I have something I need to do…"

"What do you need to do? You just said you were free," Yvan cut her off, already steering the bike down a different path. It led to the local wetland park.

"Come on, let's go for a walk in the park."

Winifred had no choice but to go with him.

They rode for a while before getting off to walk.

Winifred's eyes flew open in shock. She tried to push him away, but he was too strong.

She never really remembered how she got out of those woods that day. All she knew was that Yvan held her hand tightly the entire way back to her house.

Somehow, after that, they were together.

Even though it was long-distance, Yvan called her every day. Most of the time, he would do the talking while she listened.

During holidays, he would fly to Riverside City to see her. They would go sightseeing and explore the city together. At night, they would stay in a hotel, kissing and acting like any other couple.

Slowly, Winifred's heart began to melt.

That year she dated Yvan felt like living in a dream, so sweet it was almost unreal.

But that dream was shattered during the summer break after their freshman year of college.

By then, she believed their relationship had deepened into something real and meaningful.

She had no idea it was all a fantasy she had built in her own mind. In Yvan's eyes, she was nothing more than a plaything.
