Stella and Patrick shot Yvan a disdainful look before hurrying to catch up with Winifred.
Yvan started to follow, but Nancy stepped in his way.
She looked at him, her expression a mixture of confusion and disappointment. "So you're the 'nice man' Delia was talking about. I thought you were a decent person, so kind and helpful. I never expected… Look, Mr. Brown, since you already have a girlfriend, why are you harassing Winifred? Do you have any idea how much trouble you've caused her?"
Yvan was completely bewildered. "What do you mean? I have a girlfriend? What trouble have I caused Winifred?"
Nancy frowned. "Your girlfriend, Cornelia, called Winifred a homewrecker in front of everyone today. Now, a video of it is all over the hospital, and it's seriously damaged Winifred's reputation. Mr. Brown, please control yourself and your girlfriend, and stop dragging Winifred into this mess."
With that, Nancy scoffed and turned to catch up with the others.
Yvan stood there, stunned. His girlfriend, Cornelia? Cornelia called Winifred a homewrecker? What was going on?
He wanted to go after them and demand an explanation, but considering Winifred's attitude, she probably wouldn't talk to him. Fine. He would just have David look into it.
Meanwhile, Nancy rejoined Winifred and the others.
Stella asked curiously, "Nancy, what did you say to him?"
"I told him to stay away from Winifred and to control his girlfriend."
"Nancy, you're awesome!" Stella gave her a thumbs-up.
Less than half an hour later, David sent a long message detailing the incident in the Zion Medical Center cafeteria, complete with two video attachments—one complete, the other edited.
David added at the end, "The edited video was made by one of Cornelia's friends, who also started spreading it. Cornelia deliberately had them circulate the edited version. I've already copied their conversation records. I can send them to you whenever you want."
This time, David pulled out all the stops, mobilizing his entire network to get to the bottom of things as quickly as possible. He was desperate to make up for his previous blunder in Yvan's eyes.
Yvan had asked him to investigate Winifred, and the whole thing had turned into a massive screw-up, earning him a harsh reprimand.
But David felt wronged. The boss had specifically asked him to look into Winifred's husband. Naturally, he assumed she was married. How was he supposed to know the boss had been mistaken from the start and that Winifred wasn't married at all?
Yvan read the message and watched the videos in his car, his expression growing darker by the second…
