How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 65

The next day, as soon as Cornelia arrived at her office in the hospital, she received a warning call from Yvan’s lawyer.

“Ms. Johnson, you’d be wise to do as Mr. Brown told you yesterday. Otherwise, when the time is up, I will submit all evidence of your criminal activity to the police and let them handle it.”

“And don’t think for a second that Monica can help you. Mr. Brown is an adult, and no one can stop him from doing what he wants. Not even Monica.”

Cornelia’s face went pale as she listened.

Had she failed to persuade Yvan? But last night, she had so confidently told her that she could handle it.

No, she had to call and find out.

Cornelia immediately dialed Monica. After a few pleasantries, she finally asked,

“I wanted to ask if you spoke to Yvan about what we discussed last night.”

“Well…” Monica sounded guilty. “Cornelia, I’m so sorry. I did talk to Yvan last night, but he’s all grown up now and has his own ideas. I tried to persuade him for a long time, but he just wouldn’t listen to me.”

Cornelia felt as if she’d been struck by lightning.

Last night, with Monica’s assurance, she hadn’t worried about it at all. Who would have thought Monica would be completely useless?

Cornelia felt a surge of resentment towards Monica, but she kept her voice pitiful. “Then what should I do? Yvan is really going to sue me. He just had his lawyer call me. Please, try to talk to him again. I really didn’t mean to offend Winifred.”

Monica’s initial fondness for Cornelia had completely vanished.

If Cornelia liked Yvan, she could compete fairly with Winifred, not resort to underhanded tactics, slandering the other woman as a homewrecker and spreading misleading videos.

It was clear that Cornelia was not a good person. If it weren't for the fact that she was the daughter of an old classmate, Monica wouldn't have bothered speaking to her at all.

As expected, Mr. Johnson yelled at her.

Cornelia sobbed, “Dad, please stop scolding me. Just help me solve this first. Can you please beg Mr. Brown to talk some sense into Yvan?”

Although Mr. Johnson was furious with Cornelia for causing trouble, he still cared for his daughter. Swallowing his pride, he called Hogan.

Hogan was on a business trip in Veya, and Monica hadn't told him about the incident. So when he got the call from Mr. Johnson and heard his one-sided story, he immediately agreed to help.

Hogan then called Yvan. “Yvan, Cornelia’s father just called me. Something about you wanting to sue Cornelia? What’s going on? Let me tell you, Cornelia is the daughter of an old classmate of mine. Don’t take this too far.”

“Dad, you don’t know the whole story, so don’t meddle,” Yvan said. “I’ll handle my own affairs.”

“What do you mean, meddle!” Hogan’s voice hardened. “Yvan, I’m warning you, you are not to sue Cornelia, or else…”
