How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 71

Stella hurried to greet them. “Hello, please, have a seat. Who is the patient today?”

“That would be me,” the old woman said, sitting down and handing over her appointment slip.

“And your name is?” Stella asked, picking up a cotton swab and a penlight. “What seems to be the trouble?”

“Monica.” She opened her mouth and pointed. “I’m missing a tooth right here. I’d like to get an implant.”

The tooth had been knocked out when Murphy had accidentally bumped her with his head.

At the time, she’d thought it was just bad luck, but now, she was grateful to Murphy for breaking her tooth. It gave her the perfect excuse to come and see Winifred.

Stella took a look. “What price range are you considering for the implant?”

Monica squinted at her. “You’re Dr. Spencer?”

“No, I’m her assistant.”

“Then where is Dr. Spencer?” Monica asked, looking around the room.

Winifred approached them. “I’m Dr. Spencer. Is there a problem?”

Monica and Hogan studied Winifred closely. Unfortunately, she was wearing a surgical mask and cap, her face almost completely covered, so they couldn’t get a good look at her. Monica felt a pang of disappointment. Why hadn’t they considered that?

Still, her voice was pleasant and gentle, her eyes were beautiful, and she had a slender figure. She must be pretty.

At that thought, Monica’s spirits lifted again.

She beamed. “Dr. Spencer, could you tell me about the different types of implants you offer?”

Winifred took out a brochure and opened it to explain. “We have several systems—domestic, as well as Swedish and Korean models. The domestic ones are more affordable…”

She carefully explained the pros and cons of each system.

When she finished, Winifred said, “You can take some time to think it over before making a decision.”

She smiled. “Very well. I’ll write you a referral. We’ll start with some initial exams today.”

As Winifred typed at the computer, Monica asked, “Dr. Spencer, you look so young to be a doctor. How old are you?”

“I’m twenty-six.”

“Twenty-six! The prime of your life,” Monica said with a warm smile. “Where are you from originally?”

Winifred found the questions a bit forward but didn’t think much of it, assuming the old woman was just naturally chatty. “I’m from Oakwood City,” she answered.

“Oakwood City? That’s a wonderful place, so beautiful and scenic,” Monica said. “I even know your region is famous for its wild mushrooms and fresh produce, right?”

Winifred’s eyes crinkled into a smile. “Yes, that’s right. Have you traveled to Oakwood City before?”

“Not for a vacation, but I was there on a business trip once and had some time to look around,” Monica said cheerfully. “Oakwood City left a deep impression on me. The people there are so genuine and kind.”

“Thank you for the compliment,” Winifred said, handing her the printed referral. “Here you go. You can pay at the front desk, then head to Room 201 for your X-rays.”
