Not giving her time to hesitate, Lyra continued.
"Trust me. You won't refuse the offer I'm about to make."
Seemingly swayed by her confidence, Aria lowered her defenses.
She turned to Jasper and said softly, "Step outside for a minute."
When the manager didn't budge, Aria frowned.
"What, are you going to stand over me for the rest of my life?"
Jasper clearly struggled with the demand, his gaze darting between Lyra and Aria, before he finally turned and walked out.
He wouldn't go far.
In fact, the second he stepped outside, he was almost certainly calling Maxwell.
Maxwell might rush over immediately.
These possibilities flashed rapidly through Lyra's mind.
To avoid crossing paths with Maxwell, she knew her time was limited.
Lyra sat down on the sofa nearby and casually placed the flowers on the table.
"You're just here to gloat, aren't you?" Aria said suddenly, her tone dripping with bitterness.
Lyra looked up at her, meeting those red, tear-stained eyes, and suddenly let out a laugh.
"What is there to gloat about? Or are you saying you know exactly how pathetic you look right now—that your one-sided obsession has left you with absolutely nothing, and you regret it?"
Aria's face went rigid, and she fired back almost reflexively, "I will never regret it."
Lyra didn't bother engaging with that.
Whether she regretted it or not was none of Lyra's business.
She cut straight to the chase. "Fine. I don't want to waste your time either. Maxwell's current obsession with me is becoming a major problem. You want to lock him down, and I want him out of my life. Why don't we team up? I'll make sure the two of you end up together."
