I Chose Me Over My Marriage novel Chapter 156

"Oh? I... Achoo!"

CeCe's sneeze was all the answer Miles needed.

She looked a little embarrassed. "I'm actually a bit allergic to pollen. It's fine, you don't need to worry about me."

Miles glanced at her, then stood up and walked over to his nightstand. He opened the drawer and pulled out a blister pack of pills.

"These are for allergies. I'll go get you some water."

He placed the medication next to her and walked out of the room.

Watching his retreating figure, CeCe looked down and picked up the pills. Feeling the lingering warmth from his hand, the corners of her lips unconsciously curled upward.

It felt as though as long as Miles was by her side, everything was perfect.

Miles left the bedroom and headed downstairs. As he passed Lyra's door, he could faintly hear her voice inside. His steps faltered for only a second before he continued down the hall.

The Chambers and Lennox parents were all seated in the living room, completely oblivious to his presence.

After getting the water, Miles returned to his room, handed the glass to CeCe, and said quietly, "I have some business to attend to. I need to make a phone call."

CeCe nodded immediately. "Okay, go ahead."

Miles turned and stepped out onto the balcony.

From where CeCe was sitting, she had a perfect view of his back.

She stood up, walked to the balcony door, and raised her hand, tracing the outline of his silhouette against the glass.

But ultimately, she lowered her hand, the stubborn desperation fading from her eyes.

She let out a sigh, her smile looking genuinely relieved.

"Thank you," CeCe whispered softly before turning to leave.

When she came downstairs, Eleanor saw her and immediately stood up to greet her.

"CeCe, what's wrong? You look a little pale. Are you feeling unwell?"
