Chapter 104
Sophie and Lena played the simplest game of high card–common in card games, and one that depended entirely on luck.
In the first round, Lena couldn’t wait to flip her card.
“Sophie, if I’m not wrong, your hand can’t possibly beat mine.”
Her voice was confident, tinged with provocation.
Sophie just shrugged and tossed out her card. “Best of three.
the rush?
By the second round, Lena didn’t reveal her card immediately. Instead, she spoke up.
“Sophie, just playing like this without a wager isn’t much fun.”
Sophie sneered. “So what are you suggesting?”
“How about this–best of three, and whoever loses has to take off a piece of clothing.”
She said it in the gentlest tone, but the bet itself was utterly shameless.
Today Sophie was wearing a light blue puffed dress, off the shoulder, with nothing underneath.
Lena’s wager was basically the same as making Sophie strip in front of everyone.
“Seems like you’re confident you’ll win,” Sophie said, mocking.
The crowd around them began to murmur.
“Second round already in hand, and Lena suddenly:
W proposes this wager? Pretty obvious, isn’t it?”
“Isn’t Sophie about to marry Liam? Does Lena really want to see her future sister–in–law stripped in front of everyone?”
“Honestly, it sounds exciting. Lena looks so sure of herself–if Sophie takes the bait, we’ll be in for a show.”
“I’ve always thought Sophie had a great figure, but her family keeps her too sheltered. She never wears anything that shows it off. If tonight we actually get to see it with our own eyes, well…”
The dirty whispers weren’t hushed, so not only Sophie and Lena heard them, but Liam as well.
And this time, he didn’t step in to stop it.
After all the attitude Sophie had given him today, maybe it was time she learned a lesson.
“Sophie, are you scared?” Lena taunted.
“What’s there to be scared of? It’s just clothes. We’re all adults here. Just don’t back out when you lose.”
Sophie’s voice was casual, even bold, as if losing didn’t faze her.
The crowd immediately grew louder.
“Flip the cards! Let’s see which beauty has to strip tonight!”
“Flip them, flip them!”
With cheers all around, Lena revealed her hand. It was strong.
The only cards that could beat it were ten left in the deck–and five had already been discarded.

Chapter 104
Sophie’s odds of winning were slim to none.
Lena couldn’t hold back her grin. “Forgot to tell you, Sophie–I rarely lose at cards.”
“Is that so?” Sophie flipped over her card. “Seems my luck is better than your
Lena’s pupils shrank. “Impossible. That’s impossible!”
But there it was–Sophie’s hand was just enough to beat hers.
“Funny coincidence, isn’t it? I’m always one step above you.” Sophie’s words carried a deeper meaning.
Lena tried to stay calm. “Don’t celebrate too soon. It’s only temporary.”
Sophie didn’t bother replying. She simply picked up her third hand.
This time, Lena didn’t dare reveal hers first. She kept her eyes locked on Sophie’s expression.
Sophie casually laid her cards on the table, then added, “Sorry, I guess my lucks just too good tonight.”
The table erupted in cheers.
A straight flush–the highest hand possible in the game.
No matter what Lena held, she couldn’t win.
“This can’t be… no, this isn’t possible!” Lena stared in disbelief.
“Lena, you made the bet. You know the rule–time to take something off!”
Brandon Lawson jumped in to jeer, and soon the crowd joined him.
“Lena, strip! Lena, strip!”
“Lena, strip! Lena, strip!”
Lena flushed bright red, looking pitifully at Liam.
Liam hadn’t expected Sophie’s luck to be this good. She’d actually won.
But the bet had been made in front of everyone. If he stepped in now and made her break her word, where would his pride go?
He avoided her eyes and ignored her silent pleas.

“Lena, you were the one who proposed this wager halfway through. Sophie agreed despite being at a disadvantage.
Now you’ve hoisted the stone and dropped it on your own foot. What, planning to back out?”
Celine suddenly stepped forward, openly siding against Lena.
She had never forgiven her for pretending to be Liora. Now was her chance to settle the score.
The others quickly began to whisper.
