Chapter 105
Liam held back his anger, his voice strained.
“Sophie, everyone came here to have fun. How about this–I’ll play another round with you.
Aside from the chips on the table, I’ll add another condition. If I win, you won’t force Lena to take off her clothes in front of everyone. Deal?”
“First of all, she’s the one who suggested stripping, not me.” Sophie sneered. “Second, you’ve added a reward for yourself. What about me?”
The condition was unequal from the start.
Lena’s forfeit had been from the last game Sophie won–it wasn’t supposed to count toward this one.
Liam hadn’t expected Sophie to catch such a detail so quickly. His expression froze for a moment.
“Then what do you want to add, Sophie?”
“If you lose–one billion.”
The moment the number left her lips, everyone’s faces changed.
They had seen plenty of wagers at games, some outrageous, but never this big
One billion. Most of them didn’t even have that kind of liquidity in their families.
Was Sophie really going to play at that level?
This wasn’t a game anymore–it was war. Could this really be how an engaged couple acted?
But Liam’s thoughts were different from the rest.
The last time Sophie demanded ten figures was when she asked him for one billion to take back Liora. And now–again.
So she still hadn’t let go of that matter?
His brows furrowed. “Sophie, we’re family. There’s no need to play this big.”
“We’re not married yet. Strictly speaking, we’re not family.”
Sophie’s eyes slid toward Lena. “If you don’t want to play, then fine. Just have her strip like she promised.”
Sophie wasn’t a saint. Lena had started the wager with the sole intent of humiliating her.
Now the tables had turned, and Sophie wasn’t about to let her off easily.
It was time Lena learned what it felt like to choke on her own trap.
“Lena, strip! Lena, strip!”
Someone shouted, and soon the chant rolled across the room in perfect unison like a national anthem.
The commotion caught Zack’s attention. He nudged Marcus.
“Marcus, sounds lively over there. Sophie seems to be in the middle of it too. Should we check it out?”
Marcus didn’t answer. He only glanced sideways.
Through the overlapping bodies, he could still catch sight of Sophie’s foxlike eyes, sharp and cunning rather than flirtatious.
Something stirred in him, and he strode over.

The moment he appeared, his presence carried the weight of an army. The heirs chanting fell silent at once.
Lena might only be the Morgan family’s adopted daughter, but she was still connected–however distantly–to Marcus.
With him here, no one dared push further until they knew his stance.
They yielded the main seat, but Marcus didn’t stop there. He walked straight to Sophie and sat behind her.
Sophie’s heart skipped, a strange feeling swelling in her chest.
The moment Marcus sat down, she suddenly felt she had a protector at her back.
“What’s the matter? Weren’t you all loud a moment ago? Don’t go quiet now–let’s hear it!”
Zack jeered, stirring the crowd.
A few heirs close to him stepped forward and quickly explained what had happened. Zack caught on instantly.
Marcus listened word for word. At the mention of “stripping,” his hawk–like gaze turned stormy.
“A bet must be honored.”
His voice was quiet, but the meaning was clear.
Marcus was on Sophie’s side.
The situation was settled. Liam couldn’t cling to the hope of wriggling out anymore.
He looked at Sophie. “Sophie, fine, we can add to the wager. But your stake is only fifty million. Do you really think it’s fair to use fifty million against one billion?”
“Sure. Then I’ll add to my stake too.” Sophie’s tone was calm, almost lazy. “Five hundred million, plus Lena strips. Fair enough?”
Her words gave Liam pause.
By that logic, just sparing Lena from stripping would cost him half a billion. Too steep a price.
But with things already at this point, if he pushed further, he’d look petty.
“…Fine.” Liam agreed, then called his secretary to have checks prepared.
Lena was elated that her brother was covering for her. Her joy made her reckless, forgetting the sting of her last loss.
She pursed her lips, feigning innocence as she turned to Sophie.
“Sophie, my brother’s already having the checks sent. Where’s yours?”
“Rules of the game–you put your chips up front. No empty promises. You know that, don’t you?”
All eyes turned toward Sophie.
Curious, skeptical, doubtful–how could she possibly produce that kind of money?
