**Chapter 11**
“Ms. Chandler has gone for a paternity test, accompanied by Mr. Morgan.”
Liam’s knuckles turned white as he gripped his phone, his heart racing. “Which Mr. Morgan are you talking about?”
“Marcus Morgan.”
The revelation hit Liam like a thunderclap, leaving him momentarily paralyzed.
Why on earth would Sophie choose to undergo a paternity test with Marcus? Was she beginning to piece together the truth that he had worked so hard to conceal?
“Make sure that result confirms the baby is mine,” he commanded, his voice low and laced with a menacing undertone.
She couldn’t uncover the truth—not before the wedding.
“But… Marcus’s connections are not something to take lightly,” the voice on the other end hesitated.
“Then shut up!”
With a swift motion, he ended the call, his gaze icy and filled with a simmering rage.
Sophie. That infuriatingly oblivious woman. Most of the time, she seemed to float through life without a care, so why was she suddenly acting like she had a clue?
—
Two days later, the tension in the air was palpable.
“Ms. Chandler, the results have arrived. Can you come by Morgan Group?” Chris’s voice was professional, but there was an undercurrent of urgency.
