Chapter 134
“The show’s over. I can finally take a few days off,” Sophie laughed, taking the bouquet from Ethan’s hands.
“Come on, let’s head to the reception. I can’t wait to hear all the praise.”
Her parents walked arm in arm ahead, while Sophie and Ethan followed behind, teasing each other like when they were kids.
Soon, the Chandlers disappeared into the crowd.
From the shadows, Liam emerged.
He slowly walked to the center of the runway, stooping to pick up the fallen jewels.
They were the very gems that had slid from Sophie’s gown, still carrying her warmth, her scent.
He lifted them to his nose, inhaled deeply, and smiled, lost in the intoxication.
In his eyes flickered a dangerous glint–an obsessive hunger tightening its grip.
Pocketing the jewels, Liam headed for the reception.
Sophie, you’re mine. No one will ever take you from me.
What he didn’t see was Lena stepping out from backstage moments later, her eyes burning with venom.
Since Liam’s broken engagement to Sophie, he hadn’t touched Lena once. At first, she thought it was trauma from the villa incident. He just needed
time.
But she came to realize that all his so–called schemes against Sophie were nothing more than desperate ways to reel her back.
The brighter Sophie became, the stronger Liam’s possession grew.
Lena clenched her fists so tight her nails cut into her palms. She didn’t even feel the blood.
She would destroy Sophie–whatever it took.
By the time the Chandler family arrived at the reception, the place was already buzzing. Designers were surrounded by fashion elites eager to hear about the inspiration behind the show.
When Sophie appeared, her team quickly waved her over.
“Manager Sophie, we only pulled this off under your leadership. If anyone should explain the design concept, it’s you!”
Eyes turned toward her–bright, expectant, full of admiration.
Her nose stung. It had been so long since she felt the weight of such gazes. Once, before Liam, she’d had them. And in wasting years by his side, she’d almost forgotten how it felt.
“Go on,” her mother whispered softly, eyes misting.
“Let’s see who dares call my daughter useless now.”
“I’ll
show Mom and Dad around. Go shine,” Ethan said warmly.
Sophie nodded with a smile, stepping into the crowd.
When she spoke about her design philosophy, she seemed to glow.
Marcus lounged on a sofa by the floor–to–ceiling windows, swirling wine in his glass. His sharp eyes slid toward her, the darkness in them softening.

Zack leaned in with a grin.
“Be honest, Marcus. That stunt you pulled on stage wasn’t planned, was it? Admit it–you couldn’t hold back. That was pure possessiveness.”
Marcus didn’t look at him. “Annoying.”
“Aw, come on. I’ve got something for you.” Zack sighed dramatically,
Marcus shot him a cold glance, “Spit it out.”
Zack shoved his phone in front of him.
“Look! The live stream caught you rushing to Sophie’s side. These screenshots damn, they look like movie posters.”
Marcus’s eyes flickered as he scanned the images. His throat tightened.
“Send them to me. Original files.”
Zack clicked his tongue. “Tch. Admit it–you’re thrilled.”
Marcus didn’t answer. His gaze swung back to Sophie–then darkened instantly.
Liam stood in the crowd, staring at Sophie with a twisted smile. His expression was clammy, unhinged.
Sophie, unsettled by it, wrapped up her remarks quickly and tried to leave. But Liam stepped directly into her path.
“Move.” Her voice was ice.
Liam smiled, a familiar expression that now felt entirely different.
“Sophie, I have something to say. Come outside with me, won’t you?”
Her stomach turned. “If you have something to say, say it here.”
His smile thinned, eyes empty. He leaned closer, his finger brushing lightly over her stomach. Sophie froze.
“What are you doing, Liam?”
