Her soft moans exploded in his ear, and Marcus thought he was about to lose his mind.
“Don’t move. Or when you’re sober, you’ll regret it.”
It was the last shred of his reason speaking, but Sophie didn’t hear a word.
She melted in his arms like water in spring, her small hands clutching at his waistband, tugging as if she could rip it apart with brute force.
“Marcus, I can’t take it anymore…”
“Enough!”
Marcus shoved her away and stormed out.
If he stayed another second, he really would lose control.
If it weren’t for the fact she was still carrying a child, he would’ve already taught her what happens when you play with fire.
Just then, Zack ran in with a steaming bowl of medicine.
One look at Marcus was enough–he knew exactly what had happened.
He frowned as he handed over the bowl.
“Marcus, she’s been dosed with something strong. I’ve made an antidote, but it could hurt the baby. Honestly, every drug like this has a time limit. She’s held on this long–maybe she could tough it out a little longer? I’d rather she suffer than risk the child.”
Marcus’s eyes darkened.
“If she keeps enduring it, she’ll break first.”
Leaving those words behind, he turned and strode back inside.
Sophie was curled up on the bed, whimpering like a wounded animal.
Marcus rushed to her side and propped her up.
“Drink this. It’ll ease the pain.”
Her face was drenched in sweat, flushed and hazy, her gaze lingering on the medicine. Slowly, she raised her hand.
Crash!
The bowl hit the ground, spilling across the floor.
Her voice was hoarse. “It’ll hurt the baby. I won’t drink it.”
“Are you insane?” Marcus roared low. “You really think you can just endure this?”
Sophie met his eyes, and then, as if making a decision, she suddenly lunged.

He wasn’t expecting it–he toppled back onto the bed with her on top.
The position was scandalous, her body draped over his like a predator catching prey.
Her lips brushed his, soft and trembling. For once, Marcus froze.
Clumsily, she pressed her lips harder against his, desperate to vent the fire inside her.
He felt every ounce of her softness, every bit of her initiative. His body went rigid, his eyes blood red.
“Damn it.”
He swore under his breath, grabbed her wrists, and flipped them over.
Pinned beneath him, Sophie blinked in brief surprise–before her gaze turned molten again.
Her pale arms wrapped around his neck, pulling herself closer.
Marcus’s throat worked. His voice was low, dangerous.
“Sophie, you came to me on your own. Don’t regret it.”
Two hours later, Sophie lay fast asleep, utterly spent.
Marcus carried her to the bathroom, cleaned her carefully, changed the sheets, and laid her down again.
Only then did he change into fresh clothes. The moment he stepped out, a storm of rage followed him.
Half an hour later, a black Maybach rolled to a stop in front of a warehouse.
Chris hurried up. “The guests have all been sent home. Liam and Lena are inside, untouched, just like you ordered.”
Marcus gave no reply, only strode forward.
“Guard the door.”
Chris bowed slightly and shut the warehouse doors behind him.
Inside, Liam and Lena snapped awake. When they saw who entered, it was like the devil himself had arrived.
He wore a black shirt, his damp hair dripping faintly, his face expressionless but radiating deadly cold.
Liam panicked.
“Uncle, I didn’t know anything about this–it was all Lena! None of it had anything to do with me!”
Marcus didn’t answer. His boot landed hard, sending Liam sprawling, blood dripping from his lip.
He stepped closer, ready to kick again, when Lena threw herself in front of him.
“Uncle, it was all me. Don’t hurt him anymore.”
“Move.” His voice was lethal. “I don’t hit women.”

Chapter 139
“No, Uncle, hit me if you must–just don’t hurt him. Please…”
She tried to clutch his leg, but he stepped back, dodging her.
“You have a death wish?”
Frozen in fear, Lena didn’t dare move again.
“Don’t think I don’t know why you targeted Sophie,” Marcus’s gaze cut sharp as a blade. “You think Liam’s some prize? You think Sophie would ever take him back?”
Without waiting for an answer, Marcus strode to Liam and clamped his hand around his throat.
