Chapter 145
Chapter 145
“That’s right! You keep saying our Manager Chandler lacks experience–yet look at yourselves. Do you think this is how true veterans of the industry behave?”
“Our manager only stepped onto the runway that night to save the show. Instead of causing losses for Morgan Group, her appearance turned the entire event around and brought in record profits. I really don’t understand what you all are complaining abou-”
“Enough. Quiet.”
Sophie cut off her team, giving them a calming look.
Then she turned her gaze toward the screen.
“Director Morgan, I understand your point. What instructions do you have for me regarding my future work?”
“Instructions? Hardly.” A flicker of mockery crossed Liam’s eyes. “But I do have a few plans in mind for Manager Chandler’s upcoming tasks.”
At his words, Nina stepped forward and laid a thick stack of documents in front of Sophie.
“Manager Chandler, these have been specially prepared for you by Director Morgan.”
She snapped her fingers, and several staff members entered, each carrying piles of books and files. By the time they were stacked against the wall, the pile was as tall as a grown man.
“Everyone knows how you managed to secure this position. We won’t pursue the past any further. But to prevent future mistakes, Director Morgan believes you should brush up on the basics.”
“These are the most fundamental and professional textbooks available. You’ll have one week to study them thoroughly.”
“After all, if the general manager of Morgan Group’s design department were to embarrass us a second time on a public stage, the company’s reputation would be ruined!”
Nina walked over to the towering stack of files and kicked it lightly with the pointed toe of her stiletto.
“And this set here contains every past proposal and event plan from the design department. You’re expected to go through them one by one, to make sure no mistakes happen again.”
The conference room fell into dead silence.
Everyone knew Nina’s arrogance came only because she had Liam’s backing. And this–this was no different from Liam slapping Sophie across the face in front of everyone.
Once just an intern Sophie had fired, Nina now stood high above her, mocking her supposed lack of experience. For Nina, this was the sweetest revenge imaginable.
Most of the managers thought Liam’s move was cruel, but none dared speak out. To protect themselves, they kept their heads down and their mouths shut.
Sophie’s own design team, however, was seething with fury. If not for Sophie keeping them in check, they would have openly revolted already,
Sophie herself remained perfectly composed, sitting still as if Nina’s words were nothing more than foul air–disgusting, but quickly dissipating
“Thank you. Director Morgan, for preparing these books for me. To tell the truth, even if you hadn’t said anything, I had already planned to spend time reinforcing my fundamentals.”
Chapter 145
“And Assistant Nina is right–there was an element of luck in me reaching this position. Bot.
Her lips curved into a faint smile as she turned her gaze toward Mina.
“But are you sure there isn’t a bit of luck in your position as well? You’re nothing more than a blade in someone elor’s band Tat te low different from being a piece of meat laid out on the butcher’s block?
“You-” Nina’s face flushed scarlet.
“Assistant Nina, don’t forget–the very first rule of being an assistant is to stay calm and rational in your work. Could it be do you ready lost your composure?”
Sophie’s voice was light and unhurried, but her words pierced like blades into Nina’s heart.
Nina had fought so hard to return to Morgan Group. She couldn’t risk being thrown out again.
Her voice trembled as she forced herself to retort.
“Don’t get too proud. These materials must be mastered within one week. At the next meeting, Director Morgan will personally test you in frust of everyone. I hope you’ll still be smiling then.”
“Very well,” Sophie answered evenly. “Then I’ll look forward to showing you my results.”
She lifted her gaze to meet Liam’s calm, smiling face on the screen.
“Director Morgan, I believe your purpose for this meeting has already been achieved. To avoid disturbing your rest further, we’ll adjom here.
Then she turned to her team.
“Help me move these into my office. Let’s go.”
She walked out with long, steady strides. The design team followed, carrying the piles of files and books.
Though there were barely a dozen of them, their presence filled the corridor like an army of hundreds.
Everyone could see it clearly–on the surface, Liam held the upper hand. But in terms of sheer momentum, Sophie had not lost.
The remaining managers kept their heads low, silently recalculating. With the lesson of this meeting in mind, none dared to choose sides too early–not while the outcome between Sophie and Liam was still undecided.
On the screen, Liam let out a faint smile.
“The doctor has advised me not to overexert myself during recovery. Let’s end the meeting here.”
He turned to Nina.
“Hand out the gifts I prepared for everyone, then dismiss them.”
