“You don’t need to worry aliout that,” Lena said coldly. “I have people around Sophie. I have ways to make her kes her darity and her alley to think.
Lena trood up and walked away, her eight centimeter high heels clicking on the floor like the chant of a demon,
Her child was gone, and now. Sophie’s child shouldn’t be allowed to live either.
She had to make Sophie experience the same heart wrenching pain that she did–it would be all the more enjoyables
Sophie had returned home with Sherry. As they entered, they could hear the sound of Sophie’s parents laughing happily,
You’ve prepared so many baby clothes; I’m sure after the baby is born, you won’t need to buy any more clothes, her father joked as he looked at the shopping bags piled in the living room.
Her mother lightly hit him and said, “You don’t get it. Babies grow fast, so we need to prepare ahead of time.”
“These clothes need to be disinfected thoroughly, boiled in hot water, and then dried out in the sun before the baby can wear them.”
“Sophie’s belly is getting bigger, we can start preparing now.”
Sophie paused as she peeked through the door crack, seeing her parents looking forward to the baby’s arrival.
“Sherry, let’s not tell them about the deformity yet.”
Sherry’s eyes were filled with concern. “Sophie, why don’t you stay at my place for the night? You must be exhausted, and it will be too hard to
pretend nothing’s wrong in front of your parents.”
“I’m fine,” Sophie forced a smile and walked into the room.
Her parents immediately came over, their faces full of joy.
“Sophie, how was the checkup today? Did the doctor mention anything you should pay attention to going forward?”
Sophie rested her hand on her belly and said, “The checkup went well. The doctor told me to rest more and not overwork. I just need to stay
calm.”
“Good, go ahead and rest then. Your dad and I will organize the stuff downstairs.”
Her mother smiled warmly, and Sophie felt a pang of sadness in her heart.
Sherry quickly linked arms with Sophie and spoke to her parents.
“I’ll take Sophie to rest. She had the checkup early today and is quite tired now.”
“Alright, alright, go ahead.”
Once they were in the room, as soon as the door closed, Sophie’s expression fell.
Sherry was about to comfort her when Sophie spoke first.

“Sherry, you go back now. I need to calm down for a hit.”
“Alright, but if you feel like something’s off, you must call me. Don’t let yourself fall into a dead end.”
Sherry paused and added,
“Sophie, life isn’t about length. Maybe that little one really wanted to see the world, and if we can give him some happiness during his short time, then when he leaves, it won’t have been in vain.”
“So aon’t burden yourself too much. Whatever decision you make, I will support you.”
Sophie held back tears, forcing a smile. “Sherry, thank you.”
“No need for thanks between us. I’ll go now, but if you need anything, just let me know. I’m always here.”
Sherry walked out of the room and closed the door.
Sophie lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Her heart ached as though it was being squeezed tightly. The thought of having to give up the child felt impossible.
But if she went through with the pregnancy and the child had to suffer, would the child hate her for being selfish?
Sophie’s thoughts were in turmoil, and she eventually drifted off to sleep.
That night, her parents noticed she was still sleeping after dinner and didn’t wake her.
In the middle of the night, a sudden phone call woke Sophie up.
She fumbled to answer the phone and pressed it to her ear.
The heavy and labored breathing on the other end sent a shock through Sophie’s heart.
She immediately opened her eyes and glanced at the caller ID.
It was an unfamiliar number, with an unknown area.
“Marcus, is that you?”
Sophie gripped the phone tightly, her voice strained.
The man’s rapid breathing continued, as if he were struggling for breath.
‘Click!‘
The call was abruptly disconnected.
Tears welled up in Sophie’s eyes.
That was Marcus’s voice–he was hurt!
She had to find him!
Sophie quickly changed into casual clothes, grabbed her passport, and hurried downstairs.
“Miss Chandler, are you going out?”

Helen was preparing breakfast and frowned when she saw Sophie’s outfit.
Sophie put a finger to her lips, signaling for quiet.
“Keep it down, don’t wake them up.”
“I have something to do. When my parents ask, tell them I’ll be back in a few days.”
“Hut Miss Chandler, you’re still pregnant, Going out at this hour…”
Sophie interrupted her. “Just pass along my message. I’ll leave now.”
Without waiting for a response, she left the house.
As soon as she was gone, Helen immediately pulled out her phone and dialed a number.
Sophie arrived at the airport just as the sky was starting to brighten. She had booked the earliest flight out of the country.
Before boarding, she received a call from Dr. Sterling.
“Miss Chandler, have you thought about the baby’s situation?”
“I reviewed your recent checkup report last night, and the situation is not good. If you don’t make a decision soon, with the baby’s developmen there’s a high chance of severe bleeding. If it reaches that point, it might endanger your womb.”
Sophie listened to Dr. Sterling’s incessant talk, closing her eyes.
When she opened them again, her amber eyes were clear and focused.
She had made up her mind–the baby was their decision, and Marcus had the right to know before she made her choice.
She needed to find Marcus!
“Dr. Sterling, I know what you’re saying, but I still want to think it over. I’ll contact you as soon as I make my decision.”
Sophie hung up the phone and boarded the plane with determination.
Dr. Sterling frowned at the phone, then looked at Lena sitting nearby.
“I couldn’t stop her. What do we do now?”
