I Ctrl+Alt+Deleted My Ex and Ctrl+C'd His Uncle novel Chapter 78

**Through Silent Meadows We Trace Stories Left Behind Yesterday by Asa Rowan Flint**

Sophie knitted her brows together in frustration, her mind racing with thoughts. “Liam, what exactly do you want to achieve here?”

Liam’s voice, smooth and almost too composed, floated through the air. “Sophie, our wedding is approaching. Isn’t it only sensible for me to accompany you to meet your future father-in-law?”

Sophie cut him off, her irritation bubbling to the surface. “I’ve told you before, I’ll think about the wedding, but is it really necessary for you to rush to the hospital right now?”

His gaze softened as he looked at her, a gentle smile playing on his lips, but it felt almost patronizing. “I’m just considering that since your uncle has regained consciousness, it might be wise to discuss the wedding plans with an elder present. That’s the reason for my visit.”

Sophie felt a knot tighten in her stomach. “If you think I don’t want you to see my uncle, then fine, don’t go, but…”

Liam stepped closer, the sunlight casting a shadow over her, making her feel trapped and uneasy.

“But I’ve already informed my family that we would be discussing the wedding date today, and you absolutely must be there.”

“You’re shameless!” Sophie’s voice was thick with fury, the tension between them palpable.

It was becoming glaringly obvious—Liam was trying to corner her!

If she turned him down now, he would undoubtedly march straight to her father, and given the delicate situation surrounding her pregnancy, her father might be pushed over the edge once again!

Liam reached out, wrapping his large hand around her trembling fist, his tone deceptively casual. “Sophie, everything I do is for you, to ensure our child has a stable home.”

Sophie yanked her hand away from his grasp, her resolve hardening. “I’ll go, but you must promise not to involve my father any further!”

With that, she spun on her heel and walked away, her heart pounding in her chest.

Once in the safety of the corridor, she took a moment to collect herself, breathing deeply until her emotions were somewhat under control. Then, she steeled herself and headed toward her father’s room.

Upon entering, she found her father had just awakened, his strength still sapped. He lay frail in bed, requiring the attentive care of Mrs. Chandler, who hovered nearby.

Seeing her once vibrant father in such a weakened state made Sophie’s heart ache, and she felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes.

“Dad, just focus on getting better. Don’t worry about the company,” she murmured softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Her father slowly lifted his hand, and she instinctively took it in hers.

“Dad, is there something you want to say?”

He nodded slightly, trying to form words, but they came out as mere sounds, unclear and fragmented.

Sophie turned to Mrs. Chandler, her brow furrowed in confusion. “Mom, do you know what Dad is trying to say?”

For a fleeting moment, Mrs. Chandler’s eyes flickered with anxiety. She quickly pulled her father’s hand away gently.

“Your dad might need to rest, Sophie,” she said, her voice steady yet firm. “He’s still recovering and needs more time. Why don’t you head home for the day and come back tomorrow?”

Sophie hesitated but ultimately nodded. “Alright, I’ll go home today and return tomorrow.”

Once she left the room, Mrs. Chandler let out a deep sigh, glancing at her husband with a mix of helplessness and concern.

“Did you want to ask about the ticket manipulation for the Starlight Cup?”

Her father nodded weakly in response.

“I had someone look into it. Our Sophie didn’t buy those manipulated tickets. It was all orchestrated by Liam,” Mrs. Chandler explained, her voice low and cautious.

Some netizens speculate that Liam did it out of love, wanting Sophie to win, while others suggest he was trying to protect Liora’s undefeated record by sabotaging the competition. Regardless, the scandal has been largely suppressed by the Morgan Group, and the chatter has dwindled significantly.”

Gently, Mrs. Chandler patted her husband’s hand. “I didn’t tell Sophie that her dad suffered a heart attack because of the Starlight Cup. I didn’t want to burden her with that. You mustn’t let it slip.”

Her father sighed heavily, understanding the weight of the secret.
