I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 798

Chapter 798 Losing Face

Helen was trying to gauge Darion’s reaction, hoping to see if he’d be willing to come home for the Christmas dinner. After she finished speaking, a hint of nervousness showed on her face.

“‘Yeah,” Darion replied in a cool tone.

He turned to Helen, his expression attentive, as if he was really listening.

Seeing this, Helen was overjoyed. She got so excited that she started excitedly listing all the dishes she’d prepared for Christmas.

‘Darion, is there anything else you want to eat?” Helen asked, her eyes full of anticipation.

Helen looked at him expectantly.

‘That’s enough,” Darion replied calmly. Then he turned to Keith, his tone softening a bit. ‘Keith, if there’s anything you want to eat, just tell Grandma,” he said.

Helen nodded eagerly. “That’s right. Keith, is there anything else you want? Just tell me, and I’ll add it to the menu. I’ll make it for you when the time comes.”

Keith actually paused to think it over, then said, “I haven’t decided yet. Can I think about it a bit longer?”

‘Of course,” Helen nodded. She’d agree to anything Keith wanted.

Helen was so thrilled that Darion was coming home for Christmas, she even had an extra helping at dinner.

After dinner, Thalia and Natasha were strolling through the garden when Helen came over. She looked at Thalia and said, “Thank you for helping me talk Darion into coming nome. This is my Christmas gift for you.”

She handed Thalia a gift box.

Thalia kept her cool, glanced down at her phone, and replied, ‘That’s not necessary! Helen looked at her with a complicated expression. “No need to be so formal. You and Darion aren’t divorced yet, so as your mother-in-law, it’s only right for me to prepare a gift for you. It’s also my way of thanking you for sticking by his side and taking care of him.”

Thalia stayed calm and typed, “I’m only taking care of him because he got hurt because of me. It’s the least I can do.

“I appreciate it, but I can’t accept the gift. Darion and I will get divorced sooner or later. I’m guessing you’re waiting for that day, too? So let’s just stay out of each other’s way.”

Helen’s face darkened. She thought Thalia was being a bit out of line.

She let out a cold snort, shoved the gift box into Thalia’s arms, and said sharply, “I already bought it. What, you want me to give it to someone else? I’m not about to embarrass myself like that. If you don’t want it, just toss it.”

Without another word, she turned and walked off.

Thalia’s elegant brows furrowed. She really just wanted to keep her distance from the Blackburn family. After all, she and Darion were bound to split up eventually.

Natasha rubbed her chin and said, “Since she gave it to you, you might as well accept it. People in her position really can’t stand being contradicted.”

Helen had already managed to keep her temper in check and hadn’t snapped at Thalia,

which was pretty remarkable.

As the matriarch of the Blackburn family, the most powerful household in Oakwood, she was always the one calling the shots, never the one forced to back down. When had she ever had to put up with this kind of humiliation?

Now, she had to bend over backwards to accommodate Thalia.

If she bought a gift and Thalia still turned it down, she’d be totally humiliated.
