Chapter 800 Separation Anxiety
“I understand,” Richard said.
He spoke in a stiff, no-nonsense manner.
Helen sighed helplessly. She just couldn’t figure out what Richard was thinking, but at least he’d agreed to get along with Darion now. That should make things a whole lot easier.
After her shower, Thalia stepped out of the bathroom and saw Darion already leaning against the headboard. He was holding his phone, his long, elegant fingers tapping across the screen. As he moved, the phone’s voice assistant read out the text he was selecting.
His face was still wrapped in white bandages, and he tilted his head slightly, listening intently to the words being read aloud.
Seeing this, Thalia’s eyes suddenly stung, and her heart twisted with a bitter ache.
He used to be so bold and flamboyant, always living life his own way.
After he took over the Blackburn Group, he became a true mastermind, always strategizing, sharp and in control. Those dark, captivating eyes of his would always carry a gentle warmth when he looked at her, sometimes even a trace of a smile or affection.
But now, look at him.
It’s been ages since she met his gaze, since she saw herself in his eyes.
She felt as if an invisible hand was squeezing her chest, leaving her so suffocated she could barely catch her breath.
Thalia closed her eyes for a moment, took a deep breath to calm herself, then went to the other side of the bed and got in.
Only then did Darion notice Thalia was finished. He stopped tapping on his phone, turned to face her, and asked, “Where are you and Natasha planning to go for the New Year?”
Thalia typed on her phone, “We’re going to the hot spring resort.”
Darion acknowledged her answer. “I’ll have Ryan make arrangements. The hot spring resort at South Mountain is really nice. There’s a natural hot spring pool there. You two can go and enjoy yourselves.”
Thalia glanced at him and didn’t refuse.
She’d tell Natasha about it tomorrow.
