I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 133

Sienna's inauguration banquet began with a massive bang and ended in an absolute trainwreck.

The entire company watched as Mr. Thorne abandoned his precious Ms. Winters, grabbed the secretary he used to ignore, and marched straight into his private elevator without looking back.

The office gossip scattered like a sandstorm, instantly sweeping into every corner.

Sienna had to force a bright smile and explain it away.

"Mr. Thorne just had to teach Ms. Lynd some workplace rules. If there's nothing else, let's wrap up for the day."

Her face was ashen, and the moment she turned around, her smile vanished entirely.

Back in her office, Sienna couldn't smash things for fear of ruining her newly established image.

All she could do was hurl every throw pillow onto the floor to vent her fury.

Zoeโ€”

Why did she have to be such a relentless ghost haunting her every move?

Zoe had fled, and Hayden had lost all interest in returning to the office.

He sat in his car, trying to find a moment of peace, but the ringing of his phone yanked him back to reality.

It was Grandmother Beatrice Thorne. He reined in his growing irritation and swiped the screen to answer.

"Hayden, what exactly is going on between you and Zoe right now?"

Grandmother Thorne cut straight to the chase. Hayden's emotions barely rippled as he moved his lips.

"Same as always."

There was no further explanation.

"That won't do. I'm getting old, and I'm still waiting for a great-grandson from you two. Still no news from Zoe's belly? Lily is already four; she can help look after a little brother now."

Hayden glanced at his swollen lip in the rearview mirror, spotting the faint trace of blood still lingering there.

With Zoe's current attitude, he couldn't even get close to her.

A kid?

Maybe in the next lifetime.

Hayden was smart enough not to ruin the old lady's mood.

"I'll try."

Grandmother Thorne immediately caught his blatantly dismissive tone.

"Don't you dare try to string me along. Sienna is a widow now, your brother's widow. Don't do anything disgusting and start having ideas about her.

If she's lonely and wants to remarry, I can easily arrange some introductions for her. But you are absolutely off-limits."

This was Grandmother Thorne making her stance crystal clear.

Siennaโ€”

Hayden had never once pictured his future tied to her.

"I won't."

Hayden felt a wave of exhaustion.

Everyone seemed to think there was some illicit affair between him and Sienna.

That was exactly why Zoe acted like a porcupine.

Spiking him the second he got close.

And she still had the nerve to ungratefully misunderstand him.

Grandmother Thorne gave a few more instructions, and seeing that he really didn't want to chat anymore, she finally let it go.

"Bring Zoe back home for dinner when you have time, and Lily too."

Zoe didn't show her face at the company again.

When Lily finished school, she kept her routineโ€”helping the kid with her homework, eating dinner, and putting her to bed.
