Hayden felt much the same.
But he looked deeply satisfied as he scooped her up and carried her toward the bathroom.
"Fix your temper. You're sweetest when you're quiet."
Truthfully, her fiery personality was still quite to his taste.
Zoe almost cursed him out loud.
Did this dog of a man have anything else in his brain besides this?
Was he not running the company anymore? Was it going bankrupt?
Having such high spirits to torment her in the middle of the day.
She was so exhausted by him she didn't even have the energy to open her mouth and speak.
She could only settle for glaring at him fiercely.
Hayden shamelessly pinched her cheek.
"After we shower, let's go pick up Lily together. Don't you like taking her out for food? I'll join you guys."
Hearing him mention their daughter actually drained the last bit of Zoe's anger.
Over the past few days, Lily had occasionally asked about Hayden.
She fell silent instantly.
Hayden could tell that Zoe had compromised.
He left the master bedroom and went to the guest room to shower.
When he reappeared, he had changed into loungewear.
Wearing a light sweater and dark trousers, the sharp, hostile edge he carried at work was entirely gone, replaced by a comfortable, husbandly aura that radiated approachability.
Zoe was caught off guard seeing this completely different side of Hayden.
He sat quietly in the single armchair in the room, flipping through a magazine.
The scattered sunlight fell around him, illuminating the faint dust motes drifting lazily in the air.
The light traced the smooth, sharp lines of his profile. Hearing the noise, Hayden looked up.
Zoe was in the middle of drying her long hair with a towel. As their eyes met, it was as if she had been struck by lightning.
This version of Hayden lacked any trace of aggression. Relaxed in the soft light, he looked like a knowledgeable university professorโhandsome and incredibly gentle.
He was even more captivating like this.
If Zoe didn't already know that he was a beast in a suit, and even worse without one, she really might have been fooled by his appearance.
"I'm going to change."
She let out a cold scoff, turning her gaze away. For some inexplicable reason, her cheeks flushed, burning intensely.
