I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 259

At the office, Zoe was drowning in project work every single day.

Now that she had conceived the idea for an AI companion robot, she and Garrett spent entire mornings or afternoons deep in discussion.

She convened meetings with the tech team, wrote custom code, and ran daily data tests. The grind was non-stop.

After wrapping up a brainstorming session, Garrett followed her into her office to hash out the details. Zoe's phone began ringing relentlessly.

Glancing at the screen and seeing Hayden's name, she ignored it.

Garrett couldn't help but point it out. "Should you grab that? It might be important."

He had genuine feelings for her, but he assumed her refusal to finalize a divorce meant there was still a spark. Unwilling to be a homewrecker, he kept his desires strictly under control.

Zoe shot the phone another look, her eyes narrowing slightly. "It's fine."

She had no intention of explaining herself.

Hayden had mindlessly tossed the necklace Garrett gave her into the fire without a shred of respect. She had absolutely no desire to speak to him. After three rings, the phone finally went silent.

A text notification chimed.

"Did you burn the things in my room? Zoe, do you even remember who gave them to me?"

She barely skimmed the message before deleting it. Who else could have given them to him? His precious Sienna Winters, obviously.

Since their marriage, she had practically never received a normal phone call from him. If he didn't need her to play the loving wife at the Thorne Estate to appease Grandmother Eleanor, he never reached out. But the moment she torched something from his sweetheart, suddenly he was in a panic.

On the other end, Hayden waited in agonizing silence for a reply that never came. His grip on the phone tightened until he was dangerously close to shattering the screen.

Unbelievable. Now that she had a new lover, she was perfectly happy destroying everything she'd ever given him. If she didn't care, why should he give a damn?
