But seeing how much fun Lily was having, she pushed through.

As a complete novice, Zoe could barely stand upright at first. Garrett had to keep reaching out to steady her, holding her hand, and whenever she was about to wipe out, his arm would dart out to catch her by the waist.

Still, he was extremely respectful of boundaries. The second she found her balance, he would pull his hand away. Even so, her terrible technique meant he had to hover over her constantly.

And then there was Lily. Bundled up in a bulky snowsuit, she tumbled every third step. Garrett was running ragged saving the mother, then diving to save the daughter. Every so often, he'd scoop Lily up, skiing with her in his arms for a stretch before setting her down. Lily was having the time of her life.

By the time Hayden arrived at the resort, his eyes immediately locked onto Zoe and Garrett and refused to budge. Sienna had already gotten Holden into his gear, but Hayden remained motionless.

"Hayden?" She had no idea what was so fascinating in the distance. "Hayden, you didn't even tell us you were here. Wait, why aren't you changed yet?"

Sienna thought Hayden had planned an intimate trip for just the three of them. She certainly hadn't expected Ethan Montgomery and Ian Varley to be here. She recognized them both; they were Hayden's close friends.

"Well, if it isn't Mrs. Charles Thorne," Ethan drawled with a smirk. Sienna's face twitched. Charles had been dead for four years, and everyone in their circle knew about her and Hayden. Was Ethan out of his mind, still rubbing her dead husband's name in her face?

"What are you two doing here?" she asked stiffly.

Ethan chuckled. "If we knew he was bringing you, we would've stayed home. You brought the kid out to ski? Hayden just told us to come down here and give the boy some lessons."

Ethan frowned as he looked at Holden. The kid used to be decent-looking a few years ago. When did he get so chunky?

Ian grabbed the back of Holden's collar, completely lacking a filter. "What have you been feeding this kid, fertilizer? He's built like a tank."
