I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 29

Mr. White was completely dumbfounded.

Colin couldn't help but interject.

"Mr. Thorne, look at the screen."

Zoe nearly choked and spat out the water she was drinking.

When she dropped Lily off at preschool that morning, she had seen Hayden working on his laptop in the car.

And that exact song had been playing on the speakers.

The lyrics to [The Wheels on the Bus] were displayed clearly on the massive screen.

Hayden's face turned livid. Right in front of all the company's top executives, he deleted the absurd lines from his computer.

No one dared to laugh.

Zoe's face completely fell.

Mr. White looked like he was about to cry.

It really wasn't his fault.

Stepping out of the conference room, Zoe started sneezing violently.

Damn it. This was all because Hayden had stripped her down and messed around with her in the car, catching her a cold.

She ordered some herbal cold medicine through a delivery app, knowing she needed to nip this illness in the bud before it got worse.

Colin knocked on her door as he passed by.

"Ms. Lynd, I need a coffee."

Zoe was just heading to the pantry to brew her herbal cold medicine to ward off the chill, so she didn't refuse.

"Mr. Zachs, when exactly does Mr. Thorne plan to hire another secretary?"

Catching a moment to breathe, Zoe couldn't help but ask. Colin looked confused. "Is the workload too heavy?"

Zoe almost lost her temper. Ever since Valerie left, her workload hadn't just increased.

She practically had to schedule time to breathe.

Zoe suspected Hayden was torturing her on purpose.

"I thought you enjoyed it."

Colin meant it sincerely. In the past, Zoe had seemed eager to stay at the company twenty-four hours a day.

Easton Group's corporate culture was intense enough, but she had been an absolute workaholic.

It was a miracle to hear Ms. Lynd complaining about the workload.

Zoe's mouth twitched. Who the hell enjoyed being tortured?

She enjoyed it?

Had Hayden infected her with some sort of sickness?

Zoe went into the pantry and prepared two mugsβ€”one with her herbal cold medicine and one with coffee.

"Coffee brewed by Ms. Lynd. I thought it was pretty good. Try it."

Quentin gave Hayden a bewildered look.

In five years, Hayden had never spoken a single favorable word about Zoe to anyone.

Today, he was actually complimenting her coffee-making skills?

Aside from being Hayden's family doctor, Quentin was also one of his oldest friends.

A faint herbal scent lingered in the air, a smell Quentin was all too familiar with.

"Does Mr. Thorne not know?"

Hayden clasped his hands together, his thin lips slightly pursed as if savoring the aftertaste of the 'coffee'.

It did taste a bit strange.

Quentin stared at the dark liquid. So Hayden was into this kind of thing.

Hah.

He wasn't crazy enough to drink medicine recreationally.

"Know what?"

Hayden didn't understand what Quentin meant.

Quentin pushed back his chair, getting ready to leave.
