I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 295

Clara was still trembling with anxiety. Hayden remained seated, his eyes lowered and his posture utterly indifferent.

"I cannot serve as a witness." He delivered his refusal without an ounce of hesitation.

A knowing, ice-cold smirk touched the corners of Zoe's lips. A move that would only destroy the Winters family without offering any benefitโ€”why would Hayden ever do that?

Even Nadia was floored. Terrence had committed an atrocity, targeting Hayden's own legal wife. Just one word from Hayden would lock the bastard away for a decade. And he was refusing to testify?

In a surge of desperation, Nadia almost yelled out, 'You are Zoe's legal husband! Why won't you stand up for her?!'

Zoe intervened just in time, cutting Nadia off. "Nadia, Mr. Thorne and I have absolutely no relationship. There's no need to force him."

"But Zoeโ€”" Nadia urged anxiously.

Zoe turned away, the smile on her face deepening. "Terrence, you can't deny what you did. I don't need anyone's testimony. If the evidence isn't enough, we'll let him confess from his own mouth."

Terrence froze. Zoe held his very life in her hands. If he refused to confess, she had a thousand agonizing ways to destroy him.

As Terrence slowly lowered his head in defeat, Clara glared at Zoe and shrieked. "You ungrateful wretch! You're trying to kill me and destroy this entire family! You're so utterly vileโ€”no wonder the man you love despises you! You will never get what you want in this life, and both you and your brat of a daughter will rot in hell!"

Zoe's dark eyes sharpened, her entire body trembling with a sudden, violently consuming rage. Clara could curse her all she wanted, but she had absolutely no right to drag Lily into it.

Zoe would never let Terrence walk free, and she completely ignored Clara's existence. "Terrence. Tell the court exactly what you did."

Terrence stayed silent for several agonizing minutes that stretched on like a century.
