Quentin had been watching Hayden for a while. Over the past five years, he had been dragged into enough of Hayden and Zoe's mess to know the score. As if intentionally trying to provoke Hayden, he said, "Not necessarily. If they didn't already view her as a future daughter-in-law, they wouldn't have made such a massive spectacle out of this."

No one would hand an absolute stranger such tremendous honor for no reason. For a family as powerful as the Kendalls, people would beg for lifetimes just to be their servant. Even a blade of grass from their estate was a treasure others could only dream of.

Ethan continued to mock the situation nonchalantly. By the time the Kendalls finally made their way around for toasts, Hayden's table was empty.
