I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 32

"Hello."

Hayden's deep, magnetic voice echoed through the speaker.

"Hayden."

The moment she heard his voice, Sienna let out a pitiful sob, playing the victim.

"What's wrong?"

There was a few seconds of hesitation on his end, making Sienna feel even more resentful.

She had thought Hayden would never touch Zoe, yet she had to drive all the way here just to witness this.

"I just had a nightmare about Charles. He was covered in blood. Hayden, I'm so scared."

Sienna cried softly into the receiver.

Without a second of hesitation, Hayden replied.

"I'll be right there."

Sienna stared at the window and, true to his word, saw the man's silhouette pull away from the bed.

She didn't know what the woman on the bed was doing—perhaps still lost in the moment, or perhaps—

Sienna put her phone away, a triumphant smirk curling her lips.

Hayden cared about her.

Sienna slid back into her car, rolling the window down halfway to let in the gentle evening breeze.

Though there was a slight chill in the air, she felt absolutely invigorated.

Her mother's advice echoed in her mind. Sienna decided it was time to accelerate her plans.

Zoe burned with a fever all night, shivering one moment and sweating the next, trapped in a relentless string of nightmares.

She dreamed of marrying Hayden, going to City Hall all by herself in a pathetic display of submission.

There was no wedding, no well-wishes. On their supposed wedding night, Hayden didn't even come home.

It wasn't until a year after Sienna and Charles got married that Hayden finally initiated any contact.

Charles had died, and Hayden had been drinking heavily.

That night, Hayden had viciously dragged her into the master bedroom.

He demanded to know if she truly loved him.

Zoe had practically collapsed to her knees, crying her eyes out.

Hayden hadn't even kissed her. He simply took her, rough and unyielding.

The pain was excruciating, and she screamed in agony.

For the entire night, her heart-wrenching cries echoed through the sprawling villa.

The staff heard every single sound, but not a single person dared to intervene.

Zoe firmly refused to believe the woman in her dreams was actually her.

She threw off the covers, but the moment her feet hit the carpet, her legs buckled.

Zoe instantly realized what had happened.

Damn Hayden.

He had injured her.

Zoe struggled to get to her feet and made her way downstairs.

Remembering she still had to drop Lily off at preschool, she practically dragged herself forward.

Mrs. Gable had already laid out a lavish spread of food.

"Ms. Lynd, the Boss already had Mr. Vance take Lily to school. Please, sit down and have some lunch."

Zoe blinked in confusion.

She checked the time and realized it was almost two in the afternoon.

She was stunned. Had she really slept that long?

After eating, she had no choice but to take a cab to the hospital.

Dr. Lambert, the head of gynecology, took one look at her and frowned.

"Ms. Lynd, didn't you remind your boyfriend to be careful? It's been five years, and you still have this issue. Repeated tearing—are you trying to get yourself killed?"
