Sienna took a step back, a sinister smirk curving her lips.

"Are you saying—" Beatrice’s voice cracked.

Sienna pressed a finger to her lips in a silencing gesture and picked up her designer bag. "Only one of us can stay in the Thorne family—me or Zoe. Decide for yourself."

Dropping that devastating ultimatum, Sienna turned and walked out without a backward glance.

Beatrice sat frozen in her hospital bed. Beneath her silver hair, her lips trembled uncontrollably. "Charles... is alive..."

She pulled out her phone to call her eldest grandson, but after staring at the screen for a long time, she abandoned the idea.

Who would believe such a thing?

She didn't even know where he was.

If she told Hayden that Sienna had said it, she knew exactly how it would play out. Whether Sienna was lying or telling the truth, the woman would undoubtedly deny ever saying it. She would simply convince the Thorne family that Beatrice's mind was failing her.

A cold shiver ran down Beatrice's spine. Sienna’s sheer malice was terrifying.

After pondering the situation with dark, calculating eyes, she finally dialed Colin Zachs.

"I've fallen ill. Why haven't you informed Zoe?"

Colin hadn't visited Beatrice in a while. He had been too terrified that she would ask about Zoe, especially since she and Mr. Thorne were on the verge of divorce.

"She's been very busy lately, ma'am..."

Beatrice's heart ached.

"Tell her to stop working herself to the bone out there and stay at the company. At least she still has me looking out for her. What could she possibly be so busy with? Tell her I’m sick. Tell her to come back to Thorne Manor and bring Lily. I haven't seen them in far too long, and they haven't even bothered to visit."

Colin was speechless.

Shortly after returning from the base, Zoe received Colin's call informing her of Beatrice's illness.

"Ms. Lynd, it would be best if you brought Lily with you. Grandmother Beatrice doesn't know about the divorce yet, and I'm worried her health won't be able to handle the shock."
