I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 417

"Her mother took every last dime from Zoe's father and squandered it on their driver. Do you honestly believe Sienna earned her way into that study abroad program, or was it entirely bought and paid for?"

Grandmother Beatrice had controlled the Thorne family ever since her husband passed away. She had a sharp eye for who possessed real talent and who was utterly useless.

"Zoe worked at the company for five years. Do you have any idea how many clients she secured? When Charles left, that company was drowning in debt. She single-handedly held the business together, turning it profitable. She has my fierce spirit. And you want to hand all of that over to Sienna? You are destroying everything Zoe built."

"You aren't feeling well. You should rest," Hayden replied flatly.

Seeing his complete unwillingness to discuss the matter, Beatrice felt a chill in her heart. She simply turned her head, offering him her back.

The dismissal was obvious.

Hayden knew she was done speaking with him. Taking the hint, he stood up and headed for the door.

After a long moment of silence, Beatrice finally turned her head back around.

Just then, a faint rustling came from the doorway. Assuming Hayden had returned, she scowled.

"What are you still doing here? Get the hell out and go find your precious sweetheart."

The door pushed open, and Sienna walked in.

Beatrice’s expression instantly soured even further.

"I brought you your favorite pastries. They're still warm," Sienna said smoothly. Without waiting for permission, she set the box on the nightstand, opened it, and offered one to the older woman.

With Hayden gone, Beatrice didn't bother pretending.

"Ask yourself honestly, how have I treated you and your son all these years? And you still aren't satisfied?"
