I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 423

Now, here she was, glowing with absolute confidence as she collaborated with the country's top engineers on cutting-edge technology. A faint smirk touched Hayden's lips. If this was all part of her plan, it was certainly keeping things interesting.

Her level of expertise was far beyond anything he had ever imagined. A glimmer of genuine admiration flickered in his dark eyes, but Timothy abruptly shattered his thoughts.

"Mr. Thorne, what do you think would happen if I asked Zoe out?"

The question was clearly loaded with underlying motives.

Hayden wasn't surprised by the inquiry, regardless of Timothy's intentions.

Timothy wanted to gauge if Hayden was also interested in Zoe. Sure, Hayden had a history with another woman, but men changed their minds all the time.

Faced with a woman as brilliant and stunning as Zoe, what man wouldn't be tempted?

"Whatever you prefer, Director Yates."

Hayden replied evenly, his voice entirely devoid of emotion.

Timothy couldn't detect a shred of possessiveness in his tone; if anything, it sounded like mild encouragement.

"I assumed you might feel the same way about her as I do."

Hayden's indifferent response genuinely surprised him.

As a man, he found it impossible to believe that Hayden felt absolutely nothing.

Hayden's lips curled. "Feelings? I think you misunderstand, Director Yates. When it comes to Zoe, I don't feelโ€”"

He dragged out the words slowly, "โ€”anything at all."

What he felt for her wasn't tender affection. It was pure, unadulterated lustโ€”a dark, overwhelming desire to claim her until neither of them could breathe.

Completely oblivious to the double meaning, Timothy assumed Hayden was simply reaffirming his loyalty to his wife back home.

"I suppose that makes sense. You already have a wife, so naturally, you wouldn't let yourself fall for another woman."

That statement practically cornered Hayden. If he admitted to wanting Zoe now, it would make him look like a complete scumbag who was stepping out on his marriage.

Hayden merely raised an eyebrow, offering no rebuttal. Across the room, Zoe wrapped up her session.
