I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 484

"I know. Please don't be angry."

Hayden agreed verbally, but Grandmother Beatrice wasn't buying it.

"What's the use of just knowing? Zoe was snatched away by Arthur Kendall's family! Such a wonderful woman, everyone knows she's your wife, and yet the whole city is fighting for her. I put my life on the line to protect her for you, and what do you do? You practically hand her over and keep a mistress on the side!"

Grandmother Beatrice was so furious her head pounded.

She knew exactly where Zoe was, but she had no standing to demand her return.

Her scumbag of a grandson hadn't done a single decent thing. It was perfectly justified for Zoe to run away.

Hayden remained silent, taking the scolding without complaint.

"Are you going to make up for the wedding?"

She demanded.

"Yes."

"What about the wedding ring?"

She pressed relentlessly.

Hayden didn't hesitate.

"I'll buy it."

Grandmother Beatrice stared daggers at him.

"Stop blowing hot air. Words mean nothing. Set it in stone right now. The dress, the ring, the house, and the venue. I will handle the invitations personally."

She glared at him, still thoroughly unsatisfied.

"Look at how highly the Kendalls value Zoe. A recognition banquet that shook the entire elite circle, and you actually kept it from me! I may be retired, but I am not blind and deaf!"

She had found out about the event two days after it happened, and she had been utterly stunned.

Her perfectly good granddaughter-in-law had suddenly become someone else's daughter. And Hayden hadn't breathed a word of it to her.

"I wasn't trying to hide it. I was afraid it would agitate you."

She shot him a vicious glare.

"You think a divorce doesn't agitate me?! Command HQ called me directly to mediate! You've got some nerve, acting first and reporting later!"

Hayden fell silent again.

"The Kendalls gave Zoe immense face. Are you, as her husband, planning to hide in your shell like a coward?"
