"Hayden, where are you?"

Hayden held the steering wheel steady, Sienna's voice playing through his Bluetooth earpiece.

"Driving back to the office. What's up?"

Sienna froze slightly. He really wasn't at the office.

She bit her lower lip softly. "Did you go to the jeweler?"

Disliking beating around the bush, Sienna asked him directly. She felt that Hayden had changed recently, that he was hiding things from her.

Going to a jewelry store without telling her was out of character.

"Yeah."

A single word. Simple and clear, with absolutely zero intention of offering her an explanation.

Sienna felt too awkward to press the issue any further.

They exchanged a few more casual words before she hung up.

Noticing the shift in Sienna's expression, Megan and Mrs. Winters couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Sienna walked up to the counter. The saleswoman recognized her immediately; she was a regular.

"What did Mr. Thorne buy?"

Knowing Sienna was a familiar face, the saleswoman spilled the details without hesitation.

"I suppose congratulations are in order for you and Mr. Thorne! He just purchased a twenty-carat diamond ring, along with a matching necklace and earring set."

The saleswoman's smile grew even wider. "It's obvious that Mr. Thorne put a lot of thought into this for you..."

Sienna's heart hammered wildly against her ribs.
