"Hayden, you didn't come into the office today? It's almost time to pick up Holden. Do you have a minute?"

Hayden rejected the idea almost immediately.

"I probably won't be able to make it for a while. I'll have someone pick him up from kindergarten and take him to Blackwood Manor."

Sienna bit her lip gently. Hearing him say he was busy only made her happier.

He was definitely caught up with planning the proposal, to the point where he couldn't even make time for work.

She decided she shouldn't monopolize the time he was dedicating to romancing her.

"That's okay. I've finished up everything at work anyway. You focus on what you need to do, and I'll go pick him up."

Hayden paused for a moment before giving a clipped reply.

"Sorry for the trouble. Thank you."

It was overly polite, almost laced with a sense of distance.

Sienna smiled. "He's my son. It's only right that I pick him up. There's no need to thank me."

Hayden didn't seem to have the time for small talk and showed no intention of dragging the conversation out.

"I'm still busy on my end—"

Sienna took the hint, genuinely not wanting to ruin whatever romantic surprise he was setting up.

Colin Zachs stepped into Hayden's office. Hayden had returned to the headquarters of Thorne Enterprises.

"Mr. Thorne, the department heads are waiting for you to start the meeting."

Unfortunately, Sienna heard Colin's words loud and clear through the phone.

Hayden gripped his phone, interrupted by Colin's arrival.

"Understood. I'll be right there."

Hayden's response echoed crisply into Sienna's ear.

Hearing his exchange with Colin immediately sparked her suspicions.
