Over the course of a year, the company's ledger would show tens of millions of dollars less in expenses.
"Wait a minute."
Sienna stopped the manager. "Don't report this to the finance department just yet. The salaries for these people will still be handled by headquarters for now. I'll take care of it."
The manager wiped the sweat from his forehead. Once Sienna gave her approval, he scrambled out of the office as fast as he could.
Sienna leaned back into the sofa, a smile playing on her lips.
To her, laying people off was a trivial matter.
It went exactly as she expected.
The technical department manager issued her orders, transferring more than half of the staff to Easton Group's subsidiaries.
The massive daily orders coming into Easton Group had the grassroots employees fired up with enthusiasm.
So much so that they mistakenly believed that with Easton Group's backing, the branch companies' imminent collapse would quickly turn around.
They thought that by going there, they might even witness history, becoming the founders and pioneers of a reborn enterprise.
The executives who knew Sienna's true intentions were terrified, fearing the transfers would lead to violent protests or an absolute uproar.
To their surprise, none of the employees relying on base salaries and high commissions raised any objections.
Filled with passionate hopes for the company's future, they eagerly headed to the subsidiaries, ready to give it their all.
Easton Group's upper management hadn't expected it to be a false alarm, which only deepened their admiration for Sienna's ruthless tactics.
"Dinner tonight at the seafood restaurant. Ms. Winters is treating."
Valerie Yates clicked past in her high heels. Her crisp voice announced her arrival, and almost everyone at Easton Group knew who she was by the sound of her footsteps.
With Sienna's favor, Valerie's status in the company was even higher than Hayden Thorne's used to be.
Besides Valerie, the same was true for Julian Winters.
Sienna finished arranging the evening's dinner party and continued calling Hayden.
She had to find an excuse, or else he would treat her like a second Zoe Lynd, degrading her until she was worth nothing.
The call finally connected. Hayden's voice was deep, lacking its former gentleness.
"Hayden, are you free tonight?"
Hayden remained silent for a long moment, as if he were thinking.
Sienna paused slightly. This wasn't like Hayden's usual behavior.
In the past, no matter when she wanted to eat with him, even if he had important matters to attend to, he would agree first, then cancel all his engagements—even crucial business deals—just to satisfy her.
