I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 503

Arthur Kendall Sr., dressed in a traditional suit, was waiting for him in the living room.

Hayden adjusted his suit jacket and strode in.

"Mr. Thorne, so early?"

Arthur Kendall Sr. frowned. Hayden had never been here. Even when they acknowledged Zoe as their goddaughter, making him unhappy, he had never shown up in person.

Hayden got straight to the point, keeping his tone respectful out of basic courtesy to the elder.

"Sir, I am here to take my wife and daughter home."

Hayden stood ramrod straight. No probing, no buildup, no beating around the bush.

The old man tapped his cane lightly against the floor, a mocking smile on his wrinkled face.

"You must be joking, Mr. Thorne. I am an old man who rarely goes out; I stopped meddling in the affairs of you young people a long time ago. Easton Group is at its peak, and your net worth is vastly different from before.

Forgive my ignorance, but I had no idea you were married with a wife and child."

With just one sentence, Hayden's face darkened completely.

Hayden knew the old man was mocking him. Aside from a slightly grim expression, he didn't get angry. Without waiting for an invitation, he sat down directly opposite him.

"You must be joking, sir. Zoe and Lily have imposed on the Kendall family for many days. Zoe and I had a bit of a disagreement, but arguments between husband and wife are perfectly normal.

She's stayed here long enough. I will provide adequate financial compensation for the trouble. Please ask them to come down. I will wait right here."

Arthur Kendall Sr. gave a dry chuckle, but his eyes were filled with coldness and disdain.

"Mr. Thorne, you're playing the scoundrel in my home. Zoe is a good girl, and she is the goddaughter of the Kendall family.

However, I've never heard the child mention that she was married, nor has Lily ever said she had a father. Mr. Thorne, I think you must be mistaken."

Arthur Kendall Sr. continuously mocked and subtly insulted Hayden, and he wasn't dense enough to miss it.

Right now, he needed a favor, so he had to swallow his pride and answer in a low, deep voice.
