Seeing that Hayden's friends were still watching, Sienna hurriedly covered Holden's mouth.

She stood up abruptly. "I'm not feeling well. We're going to head out."

Ethan rarely got the chance to see Sienna, and he had secondary partnership details he desperately wanted to discuss with her. He wasn't about to let this opportunity slip away.

"Sienna, let me give you a ride. Hayden asked me to make sure you got home safe."

Without saying goodbye to the others, Ethan hurried after Sienna.

That left only Quentin and Ian Varley at the table. Seeing everyone gone, Ian Varley turned to Quentin. "Should we take off too?"

Quentin looked completely unbothered.

"We already paid our dues. You don't just drop a massive check and leave before finishing the meal."

Ian Varley thought about it and nodded.

It was Zoe's event, after all. They had to show their support.

Ian Varley leaned closer to Quentin. "Quentin, give it to me straight. Who do you really think is the father of that kid?"

Quentin shot Ian Varley a look. "Who else could it be but Hayden?"

Ian Varley's jaw dropped, rendering him completely speechless.

He looked across the room at Garrett, a newfound wave of absolute respect crashing over him.

That was a real man.

And he clearly loved Zoe.

It was just a shame—

Hayden sat in the back seat of the town car, while Colin checked on him through the rearview mirror.

His boss's face was terrifyingly dark, instantly reminding Colin of the first time they met in The Borderlands.

Colin had been trafficked to a living nightmare, completely devoid of hope. Hayden had led a tactical unit to wipe out the cannibalistic syndicate, dismantling the brutal industrial scam compound and saving countless trapped victims.

Most of those rescued returned home to live peaceful lives, but Colin hadn't left. He chose to follow Hayden.

Zoe thought about Hayden's erratic behavior and found it equally baffling.

But she didn't want Sylvia worrying unnecessarily, so she offered a reassuring smile.

"Don't worry, Sylvia. Little Ian is a Kendall now. I don't think Hayden has the power to do anything reckless."

Hayden had no proof. Zoe held the entire medical file for her IVF procedure—hard, indisputable data. What did it matter if Hayden was suspicious?

Plus, she had her divorce papers. Even if The Military Personnel Command was reluctant to acknowledge it, the law was the law.

An annulment would require an official home inspection and her personal consent. They couldn't just force it through without her.

Little Ian legally carried the Kendall name. He was their son. Hayden would be smart to back off. If he pushed her into a corner, she wouldn't hesitate to expose his filthy affair with Sienna to the authorities. When the time came, he'd be the one facing a court-martial for violating military marital laws.

If he truly cared about Sienna and Holden, and if he wanted to honor his late brother's memory, he needed to stay far away from her. She hadn't even begun to settle her score with Sienna. When she did, it would be a reckoning neither of those two would survive.

Sylvia squeezed Zoe's hand. "There's an exclusive auction tomorrow, and I want you to come with me. They're showcasing a rare gemstone that I think would be absolutely perfect for little Ian."

Zoe had already received so much from the Kendall family; she felt incredibly guilty accepting anything else.
