"Are you really that convinced Zoe's son is mine?"

Beatrice Thorne had claimed the Kendalls abducted Zoe and the two kids, and it had pissed Hayden off.

The files were faked. But what about the boy?

"Not yours? You're damn right. Zoe's baby isn't yours. He belongs to a son of a bitch."

Beatrice, furious, snapped, "You bastard..."

Hayden's skin had grown thick. "Insult me all you want if it makes you feel better, but don't insult yourself."

Beatrice angrily hung up, half-tempted to block his number.

Hayden took the same flight back to New York as Cherry.

In the first-class cabin, Hayden rested with his eyes closed. Cherry had spotted him the moment she boarded, and panic had seized her chest.

When Colin Zachs walked past Cherry, she held her breath.

Hayden didn't open his eyes the entire flight. Whenever Colin reported to him, he responded with a curt nod or a low hum.

After an agonizing eight hours, Cherry finally stepped onto solid ground, putting some much-needed distance between herself and Hayden.

Colin called for a driver to pick Hayden up from the airport. Cherry took a cab straight back to the office, convincing herself that Hayden didn't recognize her.

Yet, her guilt was enough to scare her half to death. She dreaded the thought of him identifying her and interrogating her.

Once inside the private car, Hayden's gaze turned predatory. "Look into that woman, Cherry, and her relationship with my wife. Find out how long they've been in contact."

Colin recalled the woman from the flight. She had also been present at the awards gala Hayden and Sienna attended, shadowing Zoe.

Colin had noticed Cherry upon boarding but was smart enough to feign ignorance. As expected, the Boss never missed a detail.

Hayden had spotted her all along. Colin naturally followed his directive.

"Understood, Boss."

He pulled up Cherry's background file and forwarded it to Hayden immediately.
