Sienna didn't dare follow them, terrified of being spotted.

She knew Hayden's temperament better than anyone.

If he were the kind of man who could be won over by sheer persistence, Zoe would have succeeded ages ago.

She arrived home in a foul mood. Mrs. Winters noticed immediately, wondering who had dared to upset her daughter this time.

The recent crises at the company had been kept strictly under wraps; Mrs. Winters was blissfully ignorant.

Julian, despite being at the company, was completely useless. Riding the coattails of the stock surge, he fancied himself a billionaire tycoon.

He spent his days partying, soaking up flattery, and refusing to handle any actual business.

After messing around outside, he'd come home to kiss up to Sienna, knowing his luxurious lifestyle depended entirely on staying in her good graces.

"Sienna, what's wrong? What's going on with Hayden lately? I haven't seen him over for dinner in ages," Mrs. Winters prodded, sensing something was off.

He used to visit the Winters estate constantly.

Accompanying her and Holden to see her mother.

After doing the math, Mrs. Winters realized she hadn't seen Hayden in over half a year, right around the time the company was transferred to Sienna.

She had assumed handing over the company meant he was cementing their future, paving the way for a wedding.

Instead, after the paperwork cleared, their relationship had cooled to the point where they barely saw each other for weeks at a time.

Julian hadn't noticed or cared, too busy throwing money around at clubs.

He viewed Mrs. Winters' concern as dramatic nonsense. Sinking into the sofa, he crossed his legs arrogantly.

Julian had been listening closely. As long as the company was printing money, nothing else mattered to him.

"If it's just about Hayden, then you definitely have nothing to worry about.

"Who in this entire city—no, the world—is more capable than you? The idea of him dropping you for another woman is practically impossible.

"Relax. If I ever met a woman as incredible as you, I'd worship the ground she walked on. I wouldn't even glance at anyone else."

Megan rolled her eyes hard at the sycophantic speech, shooting her husband a vicious glare, which Julian entirely ignored.

His words did manage to soothe Sienna's anxiety slightly.

But comfort was just comfort; it didn't change reality.
