Colin didn't argue; he simply killed the music.
Holden sulked, and Sienna's expression turned grim.
She wasn't an idiot. This car had just transported Zoe and Lily.
And she knew for a fact that Hayden never let anyone else ride in this specific vehicle aside from herself.
"Mr. Zachs, how are things going between Mr. Thorne and my sister lately?"
She asked, testing the waters. Colin just chuckled vaguely, offering no real answer.
Sienna pressed on, carefully hiding any trace of jealousy.
"They've been married for five years now. Truthfully, I want them to have a good relationship. It's the only way I can have peace of mind and stop feeling so guilty."
Sylvia's residence wasn't far from the main Thorne Estateโjust a two-minute drive. If Sienna had wanted to, she could have easily walked.
Colin parked in front of the manor and opened the door for her in one fluid, professional motion.
Having failed to drag a single word out of him, Sienna was furious.
"Mr. Zachs, my words still carry weight with Mr. Thorne. Are you sure there isn't anything you'd like to tell me?"
She was giving him an opening to swear loyalty to her.
But Colin wasn't stupid. You couldn't serve two masters, and his absolute loyalty lay with Grandmother Thorne. Plus, he was highly allergic to manipulative women.
"We've arrived, Ms. Winters."
Colin gave a cheerful smile, completely ignoring her subtext.
Sienna took a sharp breath, a knot of frustration tightening in her chest. Grabbing Holden's hand, her face turned ice-cold.
"Fine."
She wore a tight smile, but the threat in her eyes was glaringly obvious to Colin.
Thorne Manor was brilliantly lit.
Grandmother Beatrice Thorne sat at the head of the dining table in a silk traditional jacket. Under the crystal chandelier, her complexion looked exceptionally vibrant and healthy.
The younger generation of the Thorne family flanked the long table.
Hunter and Zoey were seated next to Sylvia.
When Sienna and Holden walked in, she immediately noticed that the seat usually reserved for her beside Hayden was already taken.
What shocked her more was that it was occupied by Zoe and Lily.
"I'm so sorry, Grandmother. I'm late."
Sienna waited for the tears.
Instead, Hayden remained completely silent.
Grandmother Thorne's face darkened.
"It's just a chair. What's all the fuss?"
In the entire household, Zoe was the only one entirely clueless about the subtext.
She was his wife. Wasn't she supposed to sit next to him?
Sylvia glared the entire time, her eyes practically twitching as she shot warning looks at Zoe.
Normally, Zoe would have read the room and scurried off to the margins.
Today, she was surprisingly bold, sitting motionless with zero intention of moving.
The only person thrilled was Grandmother Thorne. Seeing her grandson raise no objections made her ecstatic.
It seemed the reports Colin had been feeding her lately were trueโher grandson was finally waking up.
A maid brought out a tureen of slow-stewed turtle soup, and the old woman beamed.
